After calling Jack, Kellie now dressed before quickly making her way towards the sight of the latest murder.
Already she could see the police had the area roped off. CSI investigators meticulously going over every inch of the scene.
"See anything?"
Kellie paused, turning to see Jack by her side, the young warlock squinting as he tried to get a better look. "No nothing," she replied softly. The two young wizards faces contortions as they noticed a series of body bags now being loaded onto a truck. "Geez how many pieces was this guy in?"
"I doubt this was anyone from the anthro community," Jack stated. Kellie nodded in agreement. "Ann said the same thing."
"Told you she took after me."
Kellie simply rolled her eyes at Jacks statement. Despite the two working closely together, their were times that he did truelu annoy her. Closing her eyes, Kellie now reached out with her magic, immediately gasping in shock. "No it can't be!"
"What?"
"Reach out with your magic," Kellie stated. "Tell me what you feel." Jack shrugged, closing his eyes as he now reached out with his own dark powers. The magic present was familiar, far too familiar as a worried expression formed on his face. "The Ring of Change that could only be...."
"Mary."
Discovering the lingering power around the murder scene, Kellie and Jack now quickly began looking for Mary Elise. As they did Kellie pondered her relationship with the girl.
Originally a rival, Kellie had grown closer with the girl. Eventually the two began to see eachother as friends, all be it, friends who were leary of the others intentions. Still, it hadn't prevented the two from fighting side by side during the war of the timelines. The war though would prove to have a profound affect on everyone involved.
Mary Elise's best friend had died, giving her life in defense of baby Yuriko. Mary had been devastated by this, her devastation made worse when her second closest friend Mika merged with her doppelganger. Kellie had tried to reach out, only to find the girl retreat into herself. When everyone had graduated from high school, it was only Mary Elise and Kellie who had remained behind. Since then, Kellie had rarely seen Mary but still tried to reach out to the girl. Approaching a small apartment complex, Kellie and Jack paused. "So this is her place," Jack asked.
"Thats what her mom said," Kellie stated. "Apparently she moved here instead of staying on campus. Her mom said its just her and her cat."
"So should we be worried Kellie?"
"I hope not," Kellie sighed. "I mean I don't have anything bad to say about Mary."
"Except for the fact she turned a guy inside out." Jack stated. Kellie groaned, shooting Jack an incredulous look as the duo made their way towards Marys apartment. Quuckly finding Marys apartment, Kellie now knocked surprised as the door slowly opened. "Mary?"
Slowly entering the apartment the couple were a bit surprised by what they saw. Marys decorating tastes were far less dark than they would have believed. The living room and connected kitchen were fairly bland with muted tones while the couch, t.v, and computer layer out before them were almost creepy in their regularity. "Yeah this isn't creepy at all," Jack grumbled sarcastically.
As Kellie now looked to quiet Jack, she was surprised as a small black cat now emerged from the shadows. The cat now gave a small meow before rubbing against Kellies legs. "Boots! Hi girl, where's Mary?"
"Right here."
Kellie and Jack jumped, startled as they stared at the 20 year old woman. "Geez Mary what the hell you scared us."
"You're the ones that broke into my house," Mary answered, the college coed now tightening her robe. "Now why are you here?"
"What did you do Mary," Jack stated. Mary Elise raised an eyebrow holding up a piece of toast and a cup of coffee. "Made breakfast."
"Not that," Jack groaned. "The guy. Why did you kill that guy?"
"That guy was going to kill a group of kids," Mary Elise exclaimed. "He was part of the One Humanity. What? You think I'm just randomly going around killing people?"
"Um maybe," Kellie and Jack replied sheepishly. Mary Elise frowned, the auburn haired woman now glaring at the two wizards. "That why you stop by," she grumbled. "To put me down? Stop me from killing?"
"What no," Kellie exclaimed. "Mary, no, we want to help you but we can't have you killing people!"
"Why?"
Kellie and Jack stared in stun silence, shocked by Marys answer. "You can't be serious?"
"Give me a good reason why," Mary shrugged. "I mean, look at the monsters we killed. Voids, Casseus, Villar, they used to be human right? And what did we do? We killed them. Why? Because they hurt people, killed people. What makes these One Humanity guys any different?"
"Because they're human," Kellie stated. "They still have souls. The others, they weren't human anymore, they were monsters."
"Says you," Mary scoffed. "And I don't mean Casseus or the others, I'm talking about the One Humanity. They forfeit their lives as soon as they started killing anthros or anyone else that was different from them."
"You can't be judge, jury, and executioner Mary!"
"I'm not going to stand idly by and let innocents die Kellie," Mary exclaimed. "You want to stop me? Try. But I'm not taking it easy on these guys."
"Look Mary," Jack stated. "I get it. Personally, I agree but, you gotta realize that their are people that are going to twist this to make the people your protecting look like the bad guys."
Mary said nothing, narrowing her eyes as she glared at the two wizards. She could see their point but she didn't necessarily agree with it. For now though, she would simply sit down with some old friends to talk.
