The adaptations of old Trading Card Games, TCGs, into a digital format meant they were included the reality altering OmniDrive apocalypse.
The ruleset the TCG operates on are adapted to this world, including for facing non-card players, the core concepts remains the same. Learning how to utilize resource ramping, control, combo, stall, burn, aggression, and other strategies provides a flexible toolset for any Summoner to impose their will on the world around them. Yet they also face limitations, like summons of higher rarity and power often harder to find or to seal, etc. But those can be overcome as by smart play and preparation.
The factions the cards belong to also have influence on those who channel a card’s power. The cards alter them both physically and mentally so long as they are bound to a deck. Hybrids are common among Summoner ranks as they seek out combination and synergies between the factions. Others are determined to bring out the power of a focused mono-deck. Others still shift between multiple decks. Lastly, it should be said that while a Summoner’s deck provides a measure of protection against permanent transformation by outside forces, neither they or their cards are wholly safe.
There is no end to the strangeness of this post-apocalyptic reality, so who knows what other secrets and quirks about cards, decks, and Summoners are to be discovered.
