The next morning the Unflippable Hero and his two companions were preparing to leave the village on their way to the Imperial capital, Dina grudgingly and Lilly enthusiastically. (Lilly had recovered from the courteous but firm rejection she had received the previous night when she had tried to creep in to Adrian's bed.)
A hulking young man from the village was helping Adrian load his pack mule (the dryads considered such a task beneath them.) He pulled Adrian aside and spoke in a low tone "Your friends can turn people into pretty girls like them?"
"Technically" Adrian responded "they're not girls because girls are human. But yes, they can turn people into dryads like them that look like pretty girls."
"So they could turn me into a pretty girl like them?"
"Uh, sure, I don't see why not." The idea that somebody might actually want to be transformed into a pretty girl wasn't something that had appeared anywhere in Adrian's training.
"Could you ask? I really want to be a pretty girl."
Adrian quickly decided that there were enough dryads in the party. One thing his teacher had emphasized was the value of a diverse group of Companions.
"OK, but you would stay in the village with your tree and help guard it from the empire."
"Y-yes" said the young man, as if he were afraid the whole thing was a dream.
"Dina" said Adrian "Could you please come over here? This young man would like to be transformed into a dryad."
"I thought you said I couldn't transform anyone" said Dina sulkily.
"Well, this person wants to be transformed."
Dina was trying to act reluctant, but she was in fact thrilled to be transforming another male into a dryad. The young man was now a lovely dryad, blinking in confusion while laughing in joy. "New sister!" cried Dina. "Yay!" added Lilly.
