Jeremiah waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited.
but still, nothing happened.
"Obviously nothing would really happen," he said to himself, disdainfully. He felt silly and didn't want to admit that part of him had really expected this to work.
He went back to to work, as if nothing had happened.
Secretly, he wondered if he should try it again....
Jeremiah worked in the fields, thinking of the fountain.
He thought maybe he could try again after he finished his next lot of work for the day.
But would the water take effect on him?
