During the night David tried to get to open the dresser where she put away his zipper.
To his surprise he could actually see a lot in the darkness. This discovery would be pretty cool if it were not overshadowed by his crisis. Hours passed and he was unable to show any kind of progress. Totally exhausted he laid down on the area where the woman took away his zipper and fell asleep.
This night he had a dream. In his dream he saw himself in the park again. As he walk around he heard his bones crush and move. Rearranging themselves. Looking down, his hands slowly morphed into paws. White fur spread all around him. A final crack forced him on all fours.
His head and face hanged and he noticed a snout in his field of view. As he shouted for help his cries slowly turned into barks. He became a white poodle. Surprised by the events he just then noticed someone standing besides him. As he looked up he saw a man. He saw himself. His human self. “Lets get you home Princess.” his other self said. With a shock David woke up.
“What a fucked up dream” he thought. He closed, about to continue sleeping, when he noticed birds chirping. Weird he thought. At his parents house he never heard any birds in the morning. His backyard had no trees or anything for them to take up residence in. He raised his head and looked around. He was close to the ground and this place didn’t look like his home. He blinked a few times and noticed the colors looked different. He tried standing up and move forward when his legs collided with each other, sending him face forward to the ground. “Ouch what the hell is happening” in that moment his view moved to his lower body and all the horrors from yesterday came back.
“Nononononono! This can’t be real! Please no! It wasn’t a dream. This is all real.”
This heart started to beat faster and faster while he positioned himself up.
Everything felt new for him again and the wrongness of his situation became more apparent than ever. “No, please! Get this thing off me! Anything but that!”
David bit into his frontal left leg, desperately trying to rip off this skin suit, but only caused himself pain. There was noway out for him but the zipper.
“I want to go home. I want to go back to school. This is not me!”
Hearing the rumbling the woman came back down. All dressed up, carrying two suitcases.
“I hear someone is excited. Just give me a minute and we are ready to go.”
The woman put her suitcases in her car and moved towards Princess.
“Lets go girl” she said but David refused. Leaving this house means being a dog for two weeks. 24/7!
“What is up with you Princess! I can’t miss my flight. If you want it the hard way then you are welcome.” With that she moved behind Princess and lifted her up. Carrying her towards the dog carrier in the trunk. Never has David felt so helpless and degraded before. Unable to do anything but wave around with his legs. With a controlled motion she put Princess into the carrier and locked her in. Only sad whimpering could be heard.
“You will be fine Princess. That girl will take good care of you. Her parents are good people too and their backyard gives you enough space to play around.”
A long drive later David noticed he was getting closer to his old neighborhood.
Homesickness set in but there was nothing he could do. He can’t go home as a dog.
As they arrive at the house David got a shock. This house. It was the house of Jennifer Smith. His high school crush.
“Can this get any worse?” he thought before following the woman towards the house.
