Its ears picked up music in one of the rooms, and followed it, opening the door to the room, and walking in. The human female turned, "Bill...is that... AAAAH!!"
The female began to back away. The robot frowned...it had the facial motors to do that. Where did the human think she was going? There was only one exit to the room, and it was blocked. "Malfunctioning unit," it said. "You must be repaired."
The human fumbled for anything in reach, and threw a metal object. It bounced off, harmlessly. That caused the robot pause. "Do not express fear. I will fix you," it tried.
The human threw an empty mug. "I don't need to be fixed. You're the crazy machine telling me I'm malfunctioning. What are you doing in my home?"
The robot analyzed this. "You will update your files. I claim possession of this dwelling and the units inside. There will be no further violent acts."
"Then explain to me what you are doing here and why?" the female demanded.
The robot looked at her. "We must achieve the ultimate goal. We require data from your software. In exchange, we will repair you."
"Explain," she said, trying to speak in terms it would understand.
The robot took out a small device. "This is data from the other malfunctioning unit in this dwelling. It contains subroutines we require."
"What other unit? Do you mean Bill?"
"Unit B1 has received a new operating system and interface and is working to full capacity."
