It was a hot summer day. The birds were chirping, there was a gentle breeze that brought the scent of flowers from a nearby meadow, and Kira and Steven were being co-oping a game inside where there was wifi and air conditioning. Kira and Steven were little kids and good friends who lived right next to each other. Kira's dad remembered playing in the street a lot with a ball and maybe a stick or something, and with a nearby meadow there was a lot for kids to play around in. His wife wouldn't be happy with the dirty kids, but it was time for them to play. Kira's dad dug around and found an old rubber ball, and then went to the living room where his daughter and her little "boyfriend" were having a playdate. He saw they were playing an easily pause-able game and then grabbed the two kids who immediately started complaining.
"Pause the game, and drop the controllers kids or your gonna get a game over." the kids over the sofa paused the game and dropped the controllers as the father took the kids out of the house, set them down, and tossed them the ball. "Right over there is the street, and a meadow. That is a ball. I want you two to have fun out here for awhile. Go explore, I trust you two wont get in that much trouble. Remember to be careful about cars. If you want refreshments don't be afraid to ask... Also I called your mom Steve, she agreed and wont let you two in to play videogames either." The kids started groaning, but as Kira's dad closed and locked the door they didn't have many options.
Adapting Kira with ball in hand decided to play catch and threw it to Steven who caught the ball "Aw... I think the ball has a hole in it..." the little boy said as the ball deformed in his grip. Kira's jaw dropped as he saw a nearby squirrel in a nearby tree grow really fat and scrambling to get back onto the branch as it lost it's balance.
"Steven look at that fat squirrel!" Steven looked and payed attention to the squirrel as he played with the ball in his hand. It puffed back out and he squeezed it... then noticed the squirrel getting fatter... Or more like a balloon. Steven started picking up on cause and effect and then focused on the head of the squirrel as the body was pretty spherical, and then giggled as the squirrel who was in complete distress had it's head slowly puffing out. "Steven that's not funny! It's scared!" Kira yelled as she picked up on what was going on. She had a point, if the squirrel couldn't move or hide the thing was just waiting for a hawk or coyote or something to eat it.
"Ok, but his ball is actually pretty fun. What should we do with it next?" Steven asked thinking himself what he wanted to try doing.
