Carol walked through town not entirely sure her way to the high school. Oh sure she checked out the maps, but the woods kinda disoriented her a little. Looking in her bag she found some school supplies and a bag full of loose change she collected through the years... sectioned off the quarters and the dimes and... should be enough for a cup of coffee. That was something a high schooler like her would get right? It wasn't hard to find a small cafe, but it was hard to find someone who wouldn't stare. People were staring as she walked through the town, but when she headed towards a popular coffee shop they seemed a little more scared.
Carol sighed a little as she got into the line outside the shop behind an older man in a suit who was greying a bit. "Morning" came out words forced through improvised vocal chords that came out inhumane, although seemingly feminine. The man got a little spooked so Carol said "Good morning, I got a little lost. So I thought I'd get some coffee and ask around a bit for directions to the high school." After a pause where Carol thought "Yes, I am a slime. No, I'm not a mindless monster."
The man coughed and said "Yes well... I believe if you head down to the main street and make a left you should be able to find it."
Carol "smiled" and said "Thank you."
The line took a few minutes but in the end Carol got to the end and got a cheap small coffee... and annoying everyone behind her along with the owner working the register with her change. While waiting she saw some teens around her age come in an order some coffee as well. Although the more alarming event was when someone dropped their coffee. Carol used a quick spell, and while the cup fell the coffee just floated in small little orbs as if in zero gravity.
Everyone just stared as Carol asked "Um... are you ok? You can get another cup if you want..." There were a lot of stares. Half of them looking at the magic in awe, the others looking at it like it would mutate them into frogs or something. The guy with got a new cup and got the coffee back although he was a little weirded out. Although more people got more... weirder when she got her coffee and drank it. Maybe if she were wearing clothes it wouldn't have been as obvious that she just downed the whole thing, and then the hot brown beverage started diffusing through her form kind of like a cloud until she was tinged with a fading brown as she started digesting the concoction.
Carol finally took that older man's advice and managed to get to the school with some time to spare... although she was still being stared and and she could swear a few of them were talking about the coffee shop.
