The Hero sighed. This whole thing was turning out to be much harder than he thought, and he had hoped his companions would be more helpful and, frankly, that they would not be huge assholes.
"So you don't feel any obligation or desire to protect the people of the town?" he asked the new dryad.
"None whatsoever" she laughed.
"Well, now you do" said the hero "For I lay a geas upon you to protect the people of this town from all who would harm them, and I explicitly include transformation against a person's will in the category of harm. Also, I give you a name, the name of Alisa."
"You bastard" said Alisa. "I have a name! That's the worst!"
"Yeah well, deal, Alisa." said the Hero.
Dina was a little bit disturbed. She hadn't thought about the time of her birth in decades. And when she remembered the expression in the face of her--his--wife and kids when they realized they were being abandoned she felt--bad? Not good? Hanging around with the Unflippable Hero was having disturbing effects. But she didn't think she could leave him either. Like it or not she was a Companion now.
