It had not only been the gay Animalian community that had been building up. Male homosexuals who had take advantage of Pride Month's discount tended to convert into masculine animals, bears being the most common. Female homosexuals didn't necessarily to become traditionally-feminine animals. Some lesbians chose to become purely female hyenas instead of herms. One could argue that the major differences between converting gays and converting lesbians was that lesbians didn't feel the need to openly display and promote themselves. Which could say a long in general regarding how males of all species act.
However, there is one particular group of Animalian lesbians that have drawn attention, even if they weren't actively seeking it. As Sappho's conversion of Susan showed, the whiptail lizards were capable of fully converting men into women. As such, it made them a more attractive prospect for those trans women who wanted to become fully female and didn't want to 'settle' for becoming herms. Such was the case of Larry, who wanted to completely shed his male identity like a lizard does its skin. She became Laria thanks to Tandy, who she hooked up with.
Of course, the thing about conversions is that it always add heterosexual attraction to people. That's not saying that they're the cure for homosexuality as the less-informed would say. But gays and lesbians will eventually end up becoming bi with the option and choice to pursue romance with either sex. This wasn't strictly a problem with homosexual couples who were already in relationships, but they needed to be aware they'll also be attracted to the opposite sex now.
For a time, it was assumed the whiptails would be the exception to the rule. The New Mexico whiptail is the only known vertebrate animal that were all female and reproduced with parthenogenesis. It was yet uncertain whether whiptail Animalians could only produce eggs that were essentially clones of themselves or that they could genetic traits from their lovers and pass them on to their children. It was far too early to tell, though some whiptail couples were trying to incite some reproduction.
However, the purely lesbian nature of the whiptail was called into question when a group of newly-minted whiptails were working out at Claw Coliseum. There were a few male lizard Animalians also working out, but they were more focused on their workouts than bothering the whiptail Animalians. However, the whiptail Animalians were noticing the male lizards, as well as developing an unusual attraction to them. There shouldn't have been any reason for the whiptails to feel drawn to them the way they did. As such, new conversions for whiptails were postponed until further research could be applied.
Still, there were already enough lesbian lizards by that point to form a large group. They were considering having their own apartment complex be built as a counterpart to the BARA House. Others thought about setting up a colony somewhere on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. More solid decisions will have to wait until the whiptails are able to produce some eggs to expand the study on them.
