The Magic Shop

A little shrink and some purse shopping

added by Anonymous A year ago S O Mental

Jenna targeted the app on herself and generated a sentence.

"The sole passenger is a 5-foot-5-inch-tall woman wearing a diamond-patterned top."

There were a few possibilities with that one. Jenna read it a few times. She wondered if the app treated hyphenated words as all one word. She swiped her finger across "diamond-patterned" to highlight it and then changed it to "striped."

“WARNING: change requires edit of two words in sentence - ‘diamond’ 1 and ‘patterned’ x 1. Upgrade to full version for $100000 to edit multiple words (up to four) or pay in app fee of $5000 for each extra word.”

So there went that idea. She focused instead on the displayed height. She was almost eye level with female Willow. She missed Will being noticeably taller than her.

Jenna changed the second "5" to "1." Immediately, she felt her legs and butt shift slightly atop the leather car seat. Her seatbelt loosened for a split second before firmly pressing into her chest again. Her whole body felt slightly constricted.

She turned to look at Willow. Sure enough, the blonde looked a little larger now. Everything kind of did. She hadn't shrunk that much, but it was enough to confuse her brain in ways that she found hard to pinpoint.

They turned into the mall parking lot. Willow chose one of the department stores that served as an anchor and entry point to the mall and parked near the entrance. "Okay, first, I need purse for my things. Th-- Um, after that, we can get whatever looks good." Jenna noticed the dropped "a" and eyed Willow for signs of a reaction. Willow didn't seem to realize, as she was methodically pulling the key from the ignition and opening her door.

Once they were walking, Willow tilted her head and looked at Jenna. "Did you make any o... different changes on way here?"

"Just two," she admitted. "Can you tell?"

"Ei... uh... Whichever I grew or you got shorter? Meh, that wasn't... It didn't sound that way in my head." Willow's voice stuttered as she kept reworking her sentences on the fly.

Jenna was endlessly amused by how off-put Willow was in this state. As a guy, he was always very sure of himself and never questioned his tone. Even if he should have from time to time. "Just let your voice come out naturally," Jenna said, taking her hand. "Don't resist the mistakes. You'll sound more confident, and that matters more than a little missing word."

The taller woman grumbled. "So... you're definitely shorter. I feel same height as when we left."

"Correct." Jenna reached for the door handle, but Willow maneuvered in a very Will-like way to grab it first and stepped aside while she opened it for Jenna. "Thanks," she said sincerely, looking up at the taller woman. Then she returned the gesture with the inner entryway door.

As they walked through the crowded store, Willow felt dozens of eyes on her. She looked around but only saw one or two people glancing at her. She tried to convince herself she was being too self-conscious, although she had never seen anyone look at her the way those men had.

"You going to tell me what else changed?" she prodded Jenna, trying to get her mind off it.

"You'll find out. Eventually." She steered them to the women's accessories and Willow started browsing the purses.

Willow felt out of place in this part of the store, but tried to focus on choosing something. "So many. I like this one."

"It doesn't match your outfit."

"Does it matter? What if I get matching outfit?"

"If we're lucky enough to find the right colors in the right size. Here. This one is nice. It's plain blue so it fits with your jeans and it doesn't draw too much attention."

"Jenna, it has flower on it." Willow peered at the single white fabric flower prominently sewn into the side near a corner. "Hey... I didn't say just now." Her eyes widened, staring at Jenna. "No...," she said in a hushed, scandalized breath.

Jenna giggled. "Yes."

She leaned down to whisper to the Latina. "What else did you delete from my vocabulary?"

"Just the 'a,' I promise," Jenna said. She gently placed the purse in her girlfriend's hands. "This is a good purse, and it's half-price. Don't blow your savings on things you might only use for a few hours."

"If you're actually planning to turn me back." Willow scoffed.

They bought the purse straight away and transferred Willow's items from Jenna's into it. Her wallet had been transformed into a meaty pocketbook, although the other contents from her pants yesterday were the same. She had the same amount of money as before, which she was of mixed feelings about. It could have been less, but it could have been more. All of her cards, including her ID, carried the name "Willow" and her photo also matched now. She hated how she looked in the picture, same as before.

"Clothes next?" Jenna asked. "Or..." She pulled her phone out. "I could show you what this app can really do."
