A Sisterly Stroll

added A year ago O Mythological Aquatic

“You sure you two will be alright?” your mum asks as she prepares to head out with Chris to get the main shopping done for the stay. “It’ll be fine mum. We all memorised the codes for the basement entrance just in case and packed everything needed in the satchels to take down” Jessica answered confidently. “Least put on some shorts and T-shirt outside of normal swimming at least Jess” Your mum then insisted over the somewhat skimpy blue and yellow bikini Jessica was wearing. “Mum I’m in college now” Jessica insisted. “Not an excuse for flashing everything” Mum countered as she and Chris headed off.

“Mum’s right you know. You’re exposing way too much skin” You insist as you appear from your room from getting dressed for the beach. “Please. This is- oh you must be joking Vicky” Jessica started as she turned to face you. Resulting in her seeing you in your Light-green Tankini top and spotting swim-shorts ending just above your knees. “I knew I should have taking you swimsuit shopping before we left” Jessica then stated in shame. “And you wonder why I was pleased your college housed its students and was a few towns over” you countered while getting some cold drinks into your own satchel.

“Look I’m only saying you’ll never get a great tan being so covered up” Jessica insisted. “Thankfully I don’t tan and wasn’t it medically reported years ago that excessive and deeply tanning like your insisting upon is a serious cancer risk” You argued once outside and heading towards the beach. “Wasn’t that over sun beds?” Jessica questioned.

“Well you girls chose a good time to come down. See how calm that water is” the merman lifeguard commented as you and Jessica were passing by his watchpoint. “Very safe for dry and wet activity” you agreed. “You ever with legs on the job?” Jessica meanwhile questioned. “I’m a permanent merman girls. As In I live here mostly in the sea” the lifeguard admitted while rubbing the back of his head before noticing something about you “Say? Have we met before miss?”. “Nope, this is our first time here. Name’s Victoria Ashford though” You answered. “Ashford? Same name as that therapist involved this that dispute over that Alexis girl 2 years ago” the lifeguard recalled. “Our dad” You admitted. “Right. Now I see it, you’re a younger, highly feminine version of him in looks” the lifeguard then commented. “Thanks” You welcomed. “Well stay safe” the lifeguard then kindly instructed.

A while later after joining in a friendly volleyball game with some local kids while Jessica had been tanning nearby “I said I was sorry Jess” You insisted while Jessica was nursing her nose “And it’s not as if it’s bleeding”. “You deliberately threw that ball at me Victoria” Jessica argued. “Technically its ‘spiked’ as you can’t hold to throw balls in Volleyball” You returned “You’d know that from gym classes”. “Forget it. From here I’m making sure you’re not doing anything sporty” Jessica commanded. “As if” You countered bitterly.

Just then you noticed the twins from yesterday with both now sporting legs walking by. “Look Mia, All I’m saying is that it can be an aid to building your swimming strength” this two-piece wearing twin insisted. “Tia I’m not like you. I’ll never be a good swimmer and as such a terrible mermaid” the one-piece wearing twin returned sadly. “Identical twins. Our DNA is basically the same” Tia insisted. “Actually a Epigenetic process in studies suggest that while true in retaining the same DNA, environmental differences can course cells to develop differently in twins like you” you assure “As cells diversify a number of characterises can develop differently between you two”. “Oh... I see” Tia accepted.

“So nether of you are mermaiding today?” You then ask. “As I said I don’t do so while Tia is a frequent participant” Mia admitted. “I asked as I noticed you both lounging yesterday as we arrived” you confessed. “But as a frequent user you must then know of a good transformation spot?” Jessica guessed. “Cave just in the right hand side of the beach. Below the overlook cliff” Tia answered. “we learned of this last year and Tia’s been non-stop switching ever since” Mia followed. “Not that frequent and besides I told Oceane while I liked being a mermaid I had a happy family life” Tia argued. “Oceane?” Jessica asked. “Girl that chose to remain a mermaid permanently 2 years ago we chanced upon last year. Said she couldn’t live in a place where parentally abuse was legally only a male crime” Mia explained. “Dark Brown hair. One eye green while the other’s brown. Slightly short for her age formally named Alexis?” You guessed. “How’d you-” Tia tried to ask. “we actually know her. Our brother is dating her cousin whose mother helped in allowing that abuse to happen as Alexis’s, or rather Oceane’s, mother was her sister” you admitted. “Well if your still interested we won’t stop you” Tia accepted.

Later as you and Jessica entered the thankfully well lit cave and reached the ocean linking pool “seems despite Mia and Tia’s story this place isn’t exactly secret” Jessica remarked over a selection of bags clearly left behind by other users. “Well these satchels are expensive” You pointed out “So now that we’re here. Are you up to it?”:
