Jack took off her dress and stood in front of the bathroom mirror. Looking back at Jack was a slim woman with long strawberry blonde hair. The girl was wearing a bra and panties. But jJack was confident that they would not be needed for much longer. She watched as her hair began to recede. She felt a tingling throughout her body. The change was starting.
But then the process suddenly stopped. The hair which had partially receded into Jack's scalp grew long again. The tingling stopped. It was still Dana staring back at Jack in the mirror. A very worried looking Dana.
Jack waited another 5 minutes by which time it was abundantly clear that she was not changing. Only then did she go back to her bedroom and and tried again by touching the medallion to a sock of 'Jack's' from her drawer. This time she didn't even feel a zap. No change was induced.
15 minutes later Jack had given up on changing back to herself. She wondered what had gone wrong. Clearly she would have to wait another 12 hours before trying again. Feeling depressed she put Dana's dress and shoes back on.
What to do now? She was tempted just to call it a night. Get into her own bed and try again in the morning. But the bed was unmade and the apartment was a mess. She decided that since she was in Dana's body she should return to Jacob's apartment. Besides the old gossip would be keeping a watch on her and she should try and behave correctly for the body she was wearing.
Jack ended up putting another 'Jack' sock into the handbag then retreating to Jacob's. Her initial thought was that she would sleep in Jacob's bed and try again in the morning. Then Jack remembered Jacky's phone call. Should she meet Jacky anyway? She didn't owe that woman anything, but Jack was feeling a built guilty about the situation Jacob was now in. Then also Jacky might have an explanation as to why Jack had not transformed. Perhaps there was a trick to the medallion Jack was unaware of? If anyone knew how the thing worked it would be Jacky.
Jack decided she would meet Jacky at the bar, but Jack did not want to give the medallion back to Jacky. Certainly not while she was in a female body. Once she was back in her own body she would happily give the medallion back and hope to never see it again. Although perhaps not until Jacob was restored as well.
She decided to wear the medallion around her neck and hide it under the dress. That way Jacky could not snatch it from her or she would turn into another Dana. Into the handbag she also put a sock from Jacob's drawer. If she had an opportunity she now had what she needed to change Jacob back.
