Honestly, none of your options sounded good. Passing through the mermaid waterfall was an easy no since you did not like either of the possible outcomes. As for the merman waterfall, while regaining your male gender would be a big plus, ending up a permanent merman would be no better than ending up a permanent mermaid. Sure, there was that one in fifty chance of getting back to normal - in other words, two percent - but your luck wasn't THAT good.
"So, if I wait the three years before I can change back, how would I spend that time? I can't exactly show myself in town as a mermaid."
The employee went back to her podium and dug through some papers there. "Well, we do have special wheelchairs that could allow you to visit the town for short periods of time, but I understand what you mean. Thankfully, we may have a solution for you. Ah, here it is!" Coming back, she handed you a form.
Reading over the heading, you gave her a skeptical look. "Employment? You want me to work for you?"
Amber smirked. "Well, you're a mermaid, and this park has a mermaid grotto."
"It's also easy work," added the petite girl with the hyperactive mannerisms. "You're so cute! The guests will just love you!"
"Most importantly," the employee cut in with a cough. "You'll have access to our resources and facilities designed specially for mermaids, and you'll be able to stay here for free. I'm guessing you don't have a personal pool to sit in for three years."
"Um, no," you admitted. Frankly, this really did sound like the safest option. Having learned your lesson, you read through the forms and found them pretty up-front and generous. Best of all, the contract clearly stated that this was only for three years after which you can leave, no strings attached. That is, unless you choose to extend the contract or make it permanent. Yeah, fat chance of that.
So, with a sigh, you accepted the offer and signed your name.
"Welcome to the team!" Hyper-girl squealed, smothering you in a hug. "You're gonna love it just like we do!"
"If you don't suffocate her first," the tall girl said. "Give her some space, Callie. Oh, and for what it's worth, welcome, new girl. I'm Elle."
The others also introduced themselves, including the employee whose name was Sandra. Amber and Callie you already knew, but they greeted you officially anyway. The busty girl was Dana. Last of all, the quiet girl at the back, the fifth mermaid whom you had nearly forgotten until now, was Grace.
"Now, it's time to get you settled in," Amber said. "First, we need to..."
