Terry walked back to his jeep which was parked in the almost empty parking lot when he got a text on his phone.
He looked down and quickly responded before hopping into his jeep and making the trip inland a few miles.
When it was built a couple years ago the water park was called pointless by his own family, but it had become a very popular attraction with people who where tired of swimming on the beach and wanted some thrills.
More so now, since while the beach was close because of the threat of the mermaids and merman in the water and the possibility of catching the virus there where no merpeople at this park. So the park was filled to the max with people who would normally be swimming in the ocean.
He parked in the employee parking lot and went into the back room and began to change.
“So, they called you in Terry.” said one of his coworkers as he put his stuff in his locker and prepared to do a quick shower before going to his station.
“Heard we are busy.” stated Terry “Boss wants extra guards.”
“We are maxed out.” answered the coworker
“Parking lot shows it.” Answered Terry, he showed and changed into a pair of red swim trunks with a white cross on them and a white T-shirt which said Lifeguard on it.
He walked back out and looked at his assignment on the board before heading out into the park.
He could smell the chlorine which was extra powerful to make sure the water was pure from any of the mermaid virus. The amount of chlorine in the water made the air smell really bad but that didn’t matter because it made people feel safe. Since this was treated water, no one had to wear their masks but some still did but most didn’t.
What they didn’t know was that chlorine didn’t kill the virus, it actually had the opposite effect it caused the virus to spread easier in the water.
Terry didn’t know it but he was about to change the lives of a whole bunch of people forever, including himself.
