Daniel his the dagger in his bag, but not before wrapping the blade with paper. It is designed to cut through flesh, and as such, it keeps an unnatural sharpness to its edge. He can't have it ripping his notebooks and gadgets apart. While doing so, he heard the school bell tower ring the 13th-hour toll, signifying the end of the lunch period. He knows he only stayed in that store for a few seconds, but it seems one entire hour has passed without his knowledge. He rushed back to his next class while eating his prepared lunch.
Mr. Malek droned in the background, while Daniel stared in the distance. His mind is filled not with mathematical equations, but with the dagger, he found earlier. While it could be fun to use it alone, it feels kind of lonely without his friends, Declan and Gus, tagging along. He knows it's stupid to tell about the dagger. It was not some trading card or a new graphics card he could simply brag about. It's an artifact of unimaginable power, that could ruin someone's identity and life. It's stupid of him to tell them about it, but that makes it the more enticing to do so. The looks on their faces when they found out that Daniel could be anyone he wants would be the stuff of memories.
By three in the afternoon, Daniel met the two idiots snickering in their usual spot at the school gardens. Unlike most of the other students, they go out early since they already took advanced classes during their early terms.
"What are you two snickering about," Daniel asked.
Declan, the short brown-skinned idiot, hollered at him before laughing again. "It's the way you walk, man. You look like a penguin." Gus, the tallest and palest of the bunch, swayed his body left and right - like a penguin. The two laughed at each other before Declan joined in on the body-swaying.
"Fuckers," Daniel cursed but laughed nonetheless. He does walk like a penguin. Can't help it though. His bag is way too heavy with all the books and gadgets he always carried. "Anyway, I found something cool."
"Yeah, and what is it?" Gus asked.
Daniel plucked the dagger out of his bag and pulled it out of its rudimentary paper sheath. He could explain how the dagger works, but real-life applications would serve a better teacher. He could strike one of them down or look for subjects elsewhere. So, who did Daniel use the dagger on?
