You were making your way towards a medical facility, about to partake in a year long study. A study about swapping bodies. But why?Well, A few months ago, you had ended up jobless when the company you worked for had gone bankrupt. But you still had bills to pay and debts to clear. While searching for jobs you had come across an ad. They were looking for people to partake in a very special study. It was a long one and it payed very well. Not just very well. Incredibly well. You'd be able to pay of all your debt and keep the lights on for years to come. It sounded to good to be true.
The only problem was that the ad didn't say what the study was about. But you applied anyway. You had been contacted with a questionnaire and after sending in your answers, you were soon contacted by one of the people running the experiment. Before they told you anything about the experiment - they wanted you to sign an NDA. Turned out the study was quite secretive in what it was actually about. You just figured it was a company running the study and it was for some product or another that could earn them loads of money and they obviously didn't want the details leaked. So you signed the document. It felt exciting, you'd probably be testing some ground-breaking stuff. Maybe a miracle cure? Perhaps the next leap in virtual reality technology. The possibilities was endless. Of course, the fact it paid well was your main concern. If it paid well, you did figure there was some risk involved - but no ethics committee would greenlight something terribly dangerous.
After you signed the agreement, thought, you were soon contacted again. You had been told a time and place where they'd pick you up and then bring you to a secure location. There they would brief you about the upcoming experiment. When they told you they'd swap your body with somebody else's... You just laughed. But they were serious. You'd still be able to back out, but of course couldn't tell anybody. Otherwise, you'd get a few months in your body before the experiment. They'd do some more mental screenings and medical exams to make sure you were actually ready for what was to come.
So that's why, you were now making your way to the facility. You were about to meet the person you were to swap bodies with. The person who's body you'd be leaving in.
