"It's Kasey," Terry said, staring at the phone.
"Your sister? Well, why aren't you answering?"
"Nothing." Hitting the accept button, he held up the phone. "Hey, what's up?"
There was a brief pause before Kasey spoke. "Um, hi. Can I talk to Terry, please?"
Terry winced. This was what he was afraid of, and he did not want to deal with this, right now. "He's busy at the moment. Lot's of stuff going on, y'know."
"Dude, what are you doing?" Jack asked, but Terry waved her off.
"I can tell him to call you back later, okay? I have to get back to-"
"Wait!" Kasey shouted before continuing in a hurry. "Are you a colleague of his? Maybe you can tell me. What's going on over there? I'm seeing on the news that there's been an outbreak at the water park. Is he alright?"
Closing his eyes, Terry leaned his head back against the wall. Was he alright? The question of the day. "Uh, not sure yet. But it's only a couple people, and they've already been quarantined. So, you don't have to worry."
Kasey let out a snort of skepticism. "Only a couple? Then why did the entire containment fleet just pull up outside the park? It's like the apocalypse out here!"
This made Terry sit up. "Hold on, you're right outside the park? You said they sent the fleet!?"
Terry and Jack shared a look. Their city had one of the largest containment fleets in the region, composed of seven trucks specially designed for transporting quarantined humans and mermaids. Each of these monstrous vehicles pulled two tanker-like trailers fitted with eight large compartments that could double as fillable tanks.
It was said that each compartment could comfortably hold up to ten air-breathing humans and up to fifteen mermaids/mermen if filled with water. This meant that a single truck could transport from eighty to a hundred and twenty individuals.
If the whole fleet had to be called out, just how many infected people were they finding?
"I have a bad feeling about this," Terry muttered.
"You and me both," Kasey replied. "That's why I need to talk to my brother. Can you get him please? I'm worried."
