Coral quickly scrolled back to the subject profiles and selected her older brother. Adam was always so impatient with her, only wanting to scroll on his phone, play video games or hang out with his high-school friends. She'd always wondered what it would have been like if she was born the older sister, but she also was still ticked off at him for wanting to skip the magic shop and never wanting to do what SHE wanted to do! She wouldn't have this neat toy if he always got his way! "Let's just see how he feels becoming the little brother instead" she muttered under her breath, altering the statistic in his profile's drop-down options.
Male : 5yo : dark blond hair : slim build : left-handed : 3'10" : 41lbs
She toggled down to the SUBMIT CHANGES button at the bottom right and quickly clicked before lowering the controller to the table and glancing up at her brother, fingers and toes mentally crossed, hoping that the magic was real!
Still slumped over in his chair, completely tuned out from his mum and her friend chatting and his annoying little sister playing around with her knock-off Switch controller, Adam was at first unaware as the magic quickly began to alter his form. A shiver raced down his spine but he shook it off as he scrolled through his friends' shared socials, unaware that he was rapidly shrinking into the plastic chair, his 5'8" form contracting, shoulders lowering even as his knees retracted towards his pelvis. At the same time his cheeks were rounding, his jaw losing some of the definition he'd gained with puberty in the last couple of years. Adam's shoulders slimmed as he shrank, his already slender torso seeming to deflate as his entire body reversed backwards through the past ten years of his life. It was only as his feet lifted off the floor to dangle from shorter legs, knees barely reaching the edge of the seat of the chair, that he looked up from his phone, finally feeling like something was *off*.
"What the..." his gaze barely crested the tray and trash littered tabletop, and he couldn't contain the expletive that left his mouth as he looked down and took in his suddenly youthful form.
Katherine's head turned swiftly, "Adam! Where did you learn that word, young man?!" her gaze flickered to her daughter Coral, but at only 10 years old she couldn't quite believe it had been her influence that caused her baby boy to utter such a coarse phrase. Jessica tittered behind her hand, shocked but full of mirth at hearing such a thing from Adam's adorable mouth. "Alright. Give mummy's phone back, dearest." Turning to her friend she said apologetically "He must have navigated away from his video or something. I swear kids these days just innately know how to disable the child-lock feature and work these phones better than we'll ever hope to!" She started to gather the food trash and their shopping bags, telling Coral to collect her brother and her new controller as she said her goodbyes to Jessica.
"But mum, somethings not right..." Adam tried to get his mum's attention as he clambered down from the food-court chair, unaccustomed and disoriented in a world suddenly twice as large.
Coral clasped one of his tiny hands, hissing at him with a sly grin "I wouldn't say that, LITTLE brother." he gaped up at her, dizzy with viewing his sister from a shorter perspective. "You mocked that man at the magic shop, but he did say that 'seeing is believing,' right?"
