Sitting in the teachers lounge, Gail smiled as she looked over the gathered staff. Principal Masters meeting before the start of school had given the teachers an opportunity to meet eachother, Gail realizing that for the first time in her life she was no longer the youngest person in the room.
The addition of a new member to the council in staff, Paul Voss, meant that Gail and her friends were no longer the youngest teachers. The 13 year old now nervously stood next to Stella, Gail stifling a laugh as the young teen nervously looked around at the other teachers. "I wonder if I looked that nervous on my first day," the 14 year old math teacher thought.
As the meeting completed and Principal Masters dismissed everyone, Gail glanced at the students now beginning to file into school. It felt odd for Gail looking at the 13 year olds now catching up with one another. Gail was no longer the same age as her students. "You doing okay Gail?"
Gail glanced over at Pam, the 14 year old music teacher giving her a curious look. "Yeah I'm okay Pam," she smiled. "I don't know, its weird, I'm feeling...kinda old looking at the students."
"We're only a year older than them Gail," Pam laughed. "Give it a couple more years before we start thinking of ourselves as old." Gail chuckled, the pair of teenage teachers now approaching their rooms. Wishing eachother a good day, they now entered their classrooms, Gail now closing the door as she brought her class to attention.
As the lesson began, Gail now glanced over her students. Amazingly they appeared to be grasping the material, Gail noting the students busily copying down the equation she had completed. Already she was feeling like an old pro, her students engaging her with questions, Gail able to answer their questions easily and explain the problem in a way they understood. For the auburn haired teen she felt herself overflowing with confidence. She already had a good feeling about how the year would turn out.
In an instant it changed though, Gail paling as she glanced towards the window at the far end of the classroom.
At first Gail thought their was a smudge on the window. The teen noticing a black blur at the bottom of the window. Gail quickly cleaned her glasses, continuing with the lesson before glancing at the window, her heart skipping a beat as the image grew. Gail now noticing a furry black and red face peering into her classroom.
Raiden gazed intently at the students in Gails class, the kitsune studying the students before making eye contact with Gail. As soon as he saw Gail notice him the kitsunes eyes grew wide, a goofy smile spreading across his face as he began to excitedly wave at his friend.
Gail was stunned, feeling the color drain from her face as she gazed at the excited kit. Raiden obviously still needed to understand that during school hours they couldn't talk. Quickly looking at her students, she was thankful none if them seemed to notice. Glancing back at Raiden, she now tried to signal to the kit she would talk later.
Raiden tilted his head curiously, not quite understanding that Gail was working. Gail now shifted nervously in place, glancing at the clock. Class was almost over thankfully, Gail quickly flashing a signal to Raiden that she needed five minutes. At this the kitvseemed to understand, flashingba bright smile and a thumbs up as he ducked down below the window.
As the bell rang Gail now stammered a homework assignment before dismissing her students. As the last student left, Gail quickly locked the door before opening the window, Raiden popping his head up and startling the young teacher.
"Raiden you scared me," she hissed. "What are you doing here?"
"I wanted to visit," the kit replied, a wide smile on his face. "Sachiko said you were all here today. Do you want to hangout."
"Um I'm kinda busy with work," Gail replied nervously. The teen now paused, casting the kit a curious look. "Um Raiden where's Sachiko?"
"Oh she's visiting her friend Harry," Raiden replied happily. Gail raised an eyebrow, who was Harry and how did he know Sachiko?
"So do you want to hangout after-school," Raiden asked.
"Um okay," Gail stammered. "But you really shouldn't visit here Raiden."
"Why?"
"Um well," Gail balked. "My uh students probably might get freaked out by a kitsune." Raiden paused, rubbing his chin thoughtfully before a smile spread across his vulpine face. "I get it you're probably right," he smiled. "Maybe the others have students who aren't as scared. Ill talk to you later Gail!"
Gail tried to answer, hoping to relay to Raiden that an anthro fox boy at school would draw to much attention. Instead Raiden now vanished, Gail blinking for a moment before sighing. She needed to tell the others that Raiden was visiting. That and that the kitsune kit appeared hell bent on seeing them. Hopefully he wouldn't cause a scene before the school day ended.
