“I heard that the Polar people always put on the best haunted tour.” Stated Chris as Amber looked at him considering.
“Sounds like a plan, lets go.” said Amber as she took Chris’ arm and headed toward the Polar animals. It was near the back end of the zoo so they had to walk down a dark path illuminated by weak light coming from either overhead lights or more often then lights hidden in bushes or behind thick blankets of artificial fog.
The sound of screaming could be heard coming from more then a few of the paths as they kept moving arm and arm toward the polar area
“They must have gone all out this year.” Said Amber as she heard a large amount of screams coming from the area near the Polar/Arctic area.
“That is where the wolves are.” Answered Chris “The werewolf outfits are normally the best ones.”
“Maybe we should go there next.” Offered Amber
“Sounds like a plan, now let’s go get our ass frightened in the dangerous Arctic.” laughed Chris as they moved toward a large building surrounded in darkness and in fog. Some of the lights which illuminated the outside of the building were turned off making the form even darker.
“HELP!!!” yelled a voice from the roof as Chris and Amber stopped and watch a figure run across the roof top being chased by some other figures in black. The first figure tripped and within seconds the others where on him or her. It was more then a little unsettling to see but that is what they came to see.
They moved past a large, illuminated statue of a Polar Bear on its hinds’ legs along with an arctic wolf and an penguin. The bronze of the statue splashed red with some real looking fake blood.
“Damn…they really are good.” said Amber as they neared the entrees. That is when the hear on the back of Chris’s neck stood up. There was a chair where the staff member who was supposed to count the people going in was empty and knocked over and more of that red fake blood covered the door.
“Something doesn’t seam right.” Said Chris
“I agree.” agreed Amber as they both moved closer together as they entered the Arctic building.
Instantly they were hit with a mixture of coldness and strange sounds. The cold they expected, it was the arctic building designed to house animals native to colder areas, but it was more then that. The sounds where horrifying, some sounded human but others like animals.
Everything was dark and the lights were turned low casting long shadows everywhere.
“Alright…looks like we have a few paths.” Said Amber as they reached a central lobby area. Chris knew the area well and knew that the multiple paths looped together so that whichever one you picked you would in time get to all the animals.
One path on the right lead toward the Polar Bears/reindeer and other larger land animals that was the largest exhibit and the most popular place. That side had an outdoor area for the animals to go.
The Center path lead toward the penguins, walrus, seals and so on. The animals that called the frozen waters home or at least spent a large amount of time in the water.
The left most path last path was more of the smaller animals, the arctic wolf/fox, the northern weasel, snowy owl and so on.
“Which one should we start with?” inquired Chris “You decide.”
