While the hired movers were busy unloading the U-Haul, the chauffeur led you the front door of this chilling chateau. The air was soupy and heavy at first, something you chalked up to nerves accumulated from the prospect of having to live with six other people let alone all monsters. The doorbell should have sounded like a regular bell, but it was warbled and distorted and accompanied by the cackling of bats taking flight.
“That… that’s not what the bell was supposed to sound like, right?” you ask.
“Maybe,” the chauffeur shrugged, “Maybe you could get it serviced once you get settled in?”
The mansion doors opened slowly, creaking with age and ominous theatre. A long, lean, shadowy figure stood in the doorway, waiting for the door to fully open. The figure walked forward into the light, revealing herself to them in full. Here was a ghostly thin and pale young woman, dressed in a tattered white dress that swept the ground, with long, oily black hair that ran all the way down her back. Her eyes looked Japanese, but the whites of her eyes were completely pitch black, with only white irises separating her pupils from them.
“Konichiwa,” the ghostly girl said with a slight, rigid bow, “Welcome to Transylvilla. My name is Sayaka Sadako, and…” She suddenly paused, and after a beat of silence she started sniffing at you and the chauffeur. “You two…" Her eye starts to twitch. "You two are humans! We don’t get humans in our town very often, and they don’t stay human for very long. What’s going on here?”
“Please accept our apology,” the chauffeur explained, “but are you perhaps the master of the house?”
“The Mistress of The House is asleep,” Sayaka explained, “and won’t be up until just past sundown. I am acting Mistress while she sleeps. So? Explain yourselves! Why are humans here in this town of all towns?”
“I would have expected you to have gotten the memo?” the chauffeur answered, “Your new roommate here is an associate of some nondescript Ltd. They transferred to the branch here in town and rented residence here.”
“A HUMAN?” the ghostly host gasped, “Alone in a house with six monsters? Ridiculous! Preposterous! Need I add, disGUSTING! Unfortunately, yes I did get the memo, and the paperwork is all over and settled with, but I am still none too pleased with the prospect of sharing the house with a human!”
“E-excuse me?” you nervously exclaim, “I’m right here? I wouldn’t dare try to violate anyone for any reason! Heck, I couldn’t even hurt a fly!”
“Oh sure, play up the innocent charade,” Sayaka chided, “I see right through your flimsy facade, human! If I catch you doing something that I don’t like, I’m dragging you into my television and devouring your soul. Are we understood?”
“Y-yes, I understand,” you whimper in reply.
“Aww, give it a rest, Sad-sack-o,” a second member of the house approached, having apparently heard that exchange, “Don’t pay her too much mind, she’s distrustful of pretty much all humans.”
