Katie and Connor stayed up for the next two hours, wracking their brains on exactly what they wanted out of this, and how to go about implementing their little experiment. Their voices were hushed, both teenagers paranoid that they'd be heard.
Once the two had finally worked out a plan, Connor had gone home for the night, the boy feeling like he was floating.
Tomorrow was going to be *fun*.
**
The following day, Connor returned to Katie's house, his short out of shape body practically skipping to the front door.
In the dining room was an elderly neighbor, Mr Dvorak.
The two teens had decided that they shouldn't experiment on themselves, not yet anyway. It just wasn't safe until they knew what they were doing. They needed a volunteer. A guinea pig.
Somebody that they could trust.
Mr Dvorak was chosen to be their patient zero for several reasons.
One, he was old. Ancient, really. He had no family, his wife having died years ago, and they had never had children. Chances were, he'd be easy to persuade into signing up for a younger body in exchange for a few beta tests.
Two, he was a retired computer programmer. Even if he didn't understand the principles behind the Chronivac (Katie and Connor sure as hell didn't, and they were honor students), his mind was still sharp as a tack, and he probably would at least not freak the hell out once they explained the device to him.
Three...well, what straight man could resist Katie's charms?
Katie smiled at Connor.
"Well, looks like the gang is all here! Let's go upstairs..."
