It had been a while since the boys had a fun get-together. There was no special occasion, however summer was coming to a close which gave them reason enough to organize the event. Noah wanted to make sure that everyone had a good time before the next semester of college began. He had prepared a special batch of brownies, ones with an Oreo center and cookie dough exterior, to celebrate. Everyone else was bringing various snacks and drinks so there would be no shortage of food. More than anything, Noah was glad he was going to see his friends again.
It was a somewhat lengthy ride until Noah reached Liam’s house. It was located deep within a wooded area; not many people lived here. What was more interesting about Liam's house however is that it was located on a farm. While a farm might not seem like the best place for a party, especially considering that it was in the middle of the woods, Liam had his own private trailer that was on the edge of the property. It was a cozy spot, secluded and private. They could be as loud as they wanted, and it wouldn't bother anybody! It was the perfect set-up to let loose, and they wouldn't have it any other way.
It was later in the afternoon, but the sky was still very light. Noah drove up the driveway to the farm and parked outside of the trailer. The rest of his friends were already there as he could see their cars parked outside as well. Noah entered into the trailer with his brownies in hand and saw Liam, Anthony, and Richard seated on the coach. Liam jumped up and shouted out,
“Hey brother! Glad you made it once piece.”
“Hey-! I brought brownies.”
They all exchanged greetings with one another, and the party began. It was only a modest 3PM, so they had all day to do whatever they wanted. Between the board games, the video games, random Youtube videos, and food, it was shaping up to be a great night. Spending time with his friends again made Noah remember all the past adventures they had had. Like that one time they went to beach and dug a six feet deep hole… or when they went to that haunted tree and found a dead animal carcass in the woods… and also when Noah and Anthony rode a tiny canoe out onto the lake only to start sinking when they paddled to the middle. Good times. Noah smiled.
Noah remembered other feelings too. His face went red as he looked at Anthony. Noah had always fancied Anthony as more than a friend, but he had told him. He found his bearish charms to be quite attractive. His broad chest, his scruffy beard, not to mention his big hands, they were all Noah dreamed about. He never had the courage to tell Anthony to his face, afraid of what might happen to their friendship if he were rejected. It was better in Noah’s mind to be contented friends then risk being potential lovers. Although, looking at his own body, Noah felt slight tinge of sadness. He wasn't large like Anthony nor hairy. His thin frame and weak body made him the opposite of what he wished to be. At least he was somewhat tall as to not be mistaken for a kid. Mike and Liam were closer to Anthony in size than Noah was, but they still weren't large themselves. Their average builds appealed to Noah, but not as much as Anthony. All of the sudden, Noah's thoughts were interrupted as Mike blurted out,
“Ya know Liam, for as many times as we’ve come over, I don’t think we’ve ever seen any of the farm animals.”
It was clear that Mike was probing, hoping that the group might go explore the farm.
“Oh yea, I guess you’re right”, Liam remarked. “I mean if you guys wanted to see them I could take us on a tour.”
Immediately Mike stood up with eyes full of stars, “We have to do this.” Noah had to admit it, it was strange they never even looked around at the animals. And just like that they were out of the trailer and into the yard.
