The reflection in the mirror was the strangest ever. You weren't there at all! No matter how much you moved your arms or jumped up and down, your reflection just wasn't there. In that maze of mirrors, in which you seemed utterly alone, your image slowly changed, the alteration spreading to your the other mirrors in which you were reflected. Instead, what showed was an egg. And not just any egg. A massive one! Fit for a monster. It must have been one meter tall and was pure white vein-like markings with a very dark blue color. It was a cool optical illusion, nothing more. Or a clever special effect to impress visitors. Well, you were impressed for sure. You stared at the egg but as you decided to move on, you noticed a strange smell reaching your nostrils. It was not there before, as you entered the House of Mirrors, that certain! It was light, with a smoky, occult and ancient scent. But light as it seemed, as breathed it in, your head started spinning. So as not to fall on the floor and harm yourself, you sat down. But the feeling of losing balance and consciousness continued and even increased, and you clutched your head, moaning in discomfort. Darkness invaded your vision and you tried to cry out for help but it was useless. Somehow, your words died in your throat. As you lied down completely to the ground, the strangest feeling, while you bordered unconsciousness overcame you. You curled up into a ball, tightly, and something covered you. Not a blanket, something hard and spherical. Inside, you were tight but warm. Dark but secure. You fell asleep, amazingly at ease in your new environment. It lacked a few things but you could not pinpoint what exactly.
A carnie heaved up the big egg and placed it in a crate on wheels filled straw and went away with it. Better not attract undue attention. The spell had worked perfectly and this youngster turned baby creature would make the joy of his new parents. And a future recruit for the circus. It was perhaps a bit stressed as a foetus in its egg but with the extra warmth of its parents and the extra security provided by their very presence, not to mention the acclimatisation brought on by the parents making sounds next to their progeny, things should get easier and those pesky human memories fade away fast.
