The 11th of November, Veteran's Day, was one of the few holidays dedicated to the armed forces, with Memorial Day being the other one. For Animalia and its colonies, these two holidays would be where war veterans would get half-priced/discounted conversions. While most of these were from wars that the US had actively participated in, a new trend was appearing in the French and Scottish colonies (which still didn't have official names): Ukranian and Russian soldiers. While Ukranian soldiers, especially severely wounded ones, had already been trickling in, with some of them being "moved" to the other colonies, the Russian soldiers were a bit more suspicious, since they way that they had "escaped" was by first formally resigning from the Russian Army. While Horizon wouldn't be turning them away, especially since some of them were missing limbs, they more than understood why they would be under strict supervision after they had converted. This did result in a few hilarious memes of ex-Russian soldiers wearing everything from multicolored bands on their legs (with explanations by ornithological experts) to radio collars.

Speaking of which, there was a new spike in RHS, especially among older veterans. While there had been a concern about an earlier spike in Animalia's history the current spike was more understandable, after a fashion. When the US Military posted "How has serving affected you?" on Twitter, it was almost immediately flooded by rightfully angry veterans and loved ones who had suffered both during and after their wars. While the biggest percentage of the spike was in Lyre/Animalia, the Meat Market, as well as Miss Fabina's shoots, was a convenient outlet for their heightened libidos while they dealt with their PTSD. In fact, there was one psychologist who was currently working on a paper that suggested that there was a link between PTSD and RHS, though any judgement would have to wait until after it was published.

Of course, things weren't always about doom and gloom, and there were plenty of other things to occupy peoples' attention. What was probably the biggest thing was Camp Sun becoming a hunting and fishing camp, and because a lot of the hunting tags and permits were being picked up by members of the BARA House, especially since a good deal of them had become predator Animalians. While this wasn't causing too much of a problem, there were those outspoken Vegans who were making all kinds of noise for one reason or another, but these seemed to show how stupid either they or their ideas were (like one who claimed that lions raised to be vegans could give up meat) and were generally ignored.

Another big thing that was going on was more like an indirect result of something else. After their conversions, Trixie, Dixie, and Vixi, had done an impromptu photo shoot where they showed off their new species, as well as their curves. This drew a lot of attention from other bimbos, and not merely the blonde ones, so Miss Fabina, as well as Animalia as a whole, began preparing themselves for a new influx of immigrants. This also had the indirect effect of starting a new "internet debate" on whether or not the Meat Market counts as a brothel or not. While only a few hours old, the debate was already looking like it was going to get hotter than a Carolina Reaper pepper, partly because of all the R-rated furry artwork that has been going around for a while.

Altogether, while things were cooling off with fall transitioning to winter, Animalia and its colonies were far from boring places.
