“Ty… huh. Seems unassuming.”
Jeff, staring at the screen intently, clicked the “Ty” option and read the description thoroughly:
“A person who has the power to change anything he wants, even reality. Has an asshole brother and a shit family….
Oh? You can even merge his family into this universe. That seems fun.” Jeff was still a little skeptical about all this, but the clean and beautiful UI of the Chronivac alongside its high quality, life-like renders seemed to have at least denied the idea that this was a virus. Well. Who knows what may happen. This computer, despite being decently powerful, did need an upgrade soon anyway, so getting rid of it wouldn’t be too bad.
In addition, Jeff felt terrible. He had a great dad, and although his mom died giving birth to him, he had something he could call a family.
“If you select this option, it will be Ty’s 15th birthday. Huh. He’s a year younger than me.” Jeff had always wanted a younger brother.
“I feel bad making changes…. But I don’t want to get hurt by him….” Jeff read the note at the bottom.
“The user and chronivac are immune to any external changes. In addition, the Chronivac is bound to the user, so no matter what happens, you will be able to at least change yourself back.
Well, that’s a bit reassuring…”
After a bit of meddling with the options, such as having Ty’s family as their next door neighbors, or the fact that he and Ty are now friends, and his dad shelters Ty when his family gets abusive, and that his dad is trying to get custody for Ty, he felt satisfied. He didn’t want to change who Ty was specifically, and he felt that having powers might change his personality if his life was perfect.
In addition, a part of him wanted to wreak vengeance on Ty’s family. He didn’t have a brother or mother, yet they took Ty for granted. He wanted to do him better.
He pressed [CONFIRM CHANGES] and waited.
His doorbell rung.
“JEFF, Ty’s here already, don’t you want to give him a surprise?” Jeff smiled, getting up from his chair.
“Huh?” The chronivac screen seemed to now be hovering in front of him like a hologram. He swiped the air wear the screen was, and interacted with the app.
“Well, glad to know that’s how that works. At least I’ll be able to use the app outside of my computer.”
He hurried down the stairs, willing the screen to close.
“Coming dad!”
