Jesse and the girl run down into the hold. An attendant is leading a pair of donkeys to a place in the hold and securing them into a small coral. He walks back leaving the hold empty, with the exception of the donkeys.
Jesse and the girl make their move. Her hooves clank as she tries to grab the railing. She grimaces from the sound.
In the hold, they make their way into one of the corals that has only one donkey. “We’ll hide out here, but we have to hold on some how.” The girl looks at her hooves, “But we’re so far gone, how can we?” “We have to remember our humanity, when we lost our HEE HAW sense of it, we started to change.”
She nods,” I’m Melinda, Mel for short.” Jesse smiles, “Jesse.” He shakes her hoof and the two sit quietly as the boat engines fire up.
“This is it, WEE HAW be on our way in HEE HAW.” Jesse grabs his chest again. “No, Melinda cries, “Remember, you’re a human.” Jesse takes a deep breath. “I’m a human, I’m a human, I… I… HEE HAW HEE HAW HEE HAW.” Jesse’s face stretches out further and Melinda screams.
Jesse’s hands start to turn black and his pants start to rip as his legs grow. He brays wildly as his hair turns dark and grows a mane down his back. “No, Jesse, nnnnnn AW HEE HAW.” Melinda grabs her chest.
“Noooo.” Melinda cries planting her hooves to the ground. Jesse’s clothes rip off as his body swells. His sock tubes still stretched around his hooved ankles. Melinda’s pants begin to rip as she groans. “I’m a girl, I’m not a boy, this shouldn’t ha.. HA.. HAW HEE HAW HEE HAW.” Her face bursts out into a muzzle, as her teeth grow bucked and goofy. Her feet stretch out of her shoes and the rest of her clothes rip off.
She brays wildly as she completes her change. The attendant comes back down, hearing all the commotion, but finding only donkeys in the hold. He scratches his head in confusion double check his clipboard. “Hmmm, I missed the count by two, that’s weird.”
