Carl starts to tremble, and tears roll down his face as he is gripped with fear of the men invading the room. Something is wrong - it's as if he really was... he gasps and looks at the phone. Sure enough, he accidentally activated total reality change when he selected his clothing to be modified. A child's mentality is closing in around him and he fumbles with the increasingly larger device until it slips from his hands and hits the hardwood floor with a sickening crack. Horrified, Carl grabs the now-dark phone. He broke it!
A sob escapes his lips even though he isn't sure who owned the phone in the first place. A moment later, one of the SWAT cops peers around the back of the sofa and quickly puts his gun away. "I have the kid here! His dad is probably somewhere close by." Then the man squats down and says in a kind voice "It's OK kid. We are not here to hurt you. Christopher, right? You're ten years old? We were told to be careful not to harm you in any way. I just want to take you to a nice place where people will look after you."
Christopher looks uncertainly at the man, confused and scared. But that is his name, isn't it? Christopher? He is still bewildered, but finally goes to the man and is guided outside to a waiting car. The woman officer tells him Social Services is on the way.
