A man sees you and comes towards you. With a sigh, he takes out a test tube with liquid and put you in it, screwing up the top tightly. The liquid will preserve your embryo and he notes down your sex and your original species - a human. He sighs again. And another one that did not listen to the rules. There's always at least one who does not. Why is it that people assume that some rules are made to be followed for good reasons? And this one probably won't be the last of the day... But he knows what to do.
He goes to a lab inside a building nearby and puts your embryo in the freezer. The magical liquid will continue its preservation and you shall only fall asleep, unheeding of time and of the outside world. Quite a few others are there as well. The procedure is simple. Your embryo will stay there until there shall be a demand for an embryo of your sex, to be implanted into a woman. Or the female of another species, if ever you have to be changed into another species. Or even gender. It shall depend on what is demanded and what might be needed for which prospective parents, or what animals in the zoo might need to see their populations rise. As for your mind, it will be altered, at least to some degree. But how much is impossible to tell, or what memories might remain. After all, the brain is such a very complex thing. The man closes the door of the freezer and in the dark you fall into deep, deep slumber. So deep that you are not aware of your surroundings anymore and you wonder to who you will be born again and raised by, not aware that it might not even be a member of the human species, or that you might get adopted by another couple other than your birth mother. Or that your sex itself might be the opposite one. Luckily, you are too unconscious to be beset by such worries. The worse is that whatever you shall be reborn as, you will have no voice or say in the matter.
