There was just a moment for Derrick to choose - joy and ignorance was the only way he could go. The unicorn seemed to get larger, watching him with one crystal blue eye. No, the unicorn wasn;t getting bigger - Derrick was getting smaller. Much smaller! From a teen, to a boy, then physically smaller. Pulling in his back indicated new muscles, and he rose up into the air as they began to vibrate impossibly fast. There was a whir behind him - wings! And still he shrank, the size of a toddler but still looking about ten, then the size of an infant, and finally seeming to stop at 6 inches high.
He zoomed around in the air, amazed and thrilled by the ability to fly. He was leaving a trail of sparkles behind him. It was wonderful! Life was wonderful! The Sprite landed on the Unicorn's horn, balancing lightly on its tip. "Hello! What would you like to do today?" The Sprite no longer remembered any of its human past - it was and always had been a creature of magic, one that lived in the moment. It was full of joy and magic, but had a one-track mind that was focused and forgetful as a toddler's.
