Pam watched the movie and found that she really enjoyed it, actually more than she'd enjoyed anything recently - it turned out that being a compulsive liar and making up stories to anyone and everyone didn't make for lasting relationships, and she hadn't been out with "friends" in quite a while. Her recent boyfriend had only been around for a little over two weeks, and they'd only gotten drinks and hung out at his place a couple times. Come to think of it, did she even have a boyfriend now that she seemed to be stuck at 11 years old?! She quickly pulled out her phone and scrolled through the contacts, somewhat unsurprised he wasn't amongst the few contacts she had programmed.
As the movie ended, Pam gathered her shopping bags and made her way out of the theater, her good mood from the Disney movie having evaporated with her musings. As she stepped outside the double doors, she spied a familiar blue minivan waiting at the curb and realized her mother was waving to her from the driver's seat.
"Did you enjoy the movie, honey?" her mother said over her shoulder as Pam climbed in through the sliding door. "Were any of your school friends there?"
"Yeah, mom, duh." Pam lied, remembering her lack of friends from middle-school. "All my best friends were there."
Just then her phone *dinged* with an incoming text, quickly followed by two more chimes, so she tuned her mother out to check it.
--Hey P! Thanks again for the invite! I had a great time!-- from someone named Sandy
--That movie might be my new favorite!!! I can't believe they say it's for little kids - it was THE BOMB.-- someone named Chelsea sent
--Let's do this again sometime! I'll ask my mom if we can have a sleepover soon! -- a Jessica added
Pam felt like she didn't know who these people were, but foggy "memories" were filling her head of faces and names and popcorn and school... she reached her hands up to rub her throbbing temple. She had actual friends? Who liked her? Was this for real?
