In contrast to Ty's worst fears, there was no great pain. No sudden blackout as the creature devoured his mind wholesale. The change was much simpler: a vague and distant scratching at the back of his mind. An echo of Sorhafe's own voice repeating one work indefinitely.
"Obey... Obey... Obey..." it commanded.
It was foreboding, but Ty wasn't exactly sure what exactly he was supposed to obey. He felt no shift in his loyalty to anyone and with the gradual return of control to his body he couldn't help but feel that maybe the slug trap had backfired.
Those hopes were quickly dashed. As he stood back up, Ty faced the exit and found himself face-to-face with a sign that had dropped into the doorway.
"WAIT FOR MASTER" it read.
Before he could even really process it, the voice inside his skull began to scream.
"OBEY! OBEY! OBEY!"
To his utter dismay, his legs and torso locked up. Try as he might, he couldn't muster even a toe wiggle. Whatever that slug had done, it had left him utterly subservient to commands. He struggled and struggled to little effect until...
