Pam then made a forced smile as the abdomal pain was getting worse and with heavy breaths told to the officer: "Sorry, I'm overdue on my pregnancy so I should be able to drive myself safely straight to the hospital."
In that instant the pain was gone. The officer looked at Pam, raised his cap a little bit and gave him a warning she should drive safer and then wished her safe travels. Pam let out a huge sigh as the officer left the scene. She made a scenic route to the hospital, but drove back home so that she could just avoid interacting with people. In the heat of the moment she had completely forgotten that she was pregnant.
As Pam exited the car on her house. She saw her neighbour just smiling and waving at her. Pam reluctantly approach for a small talk and noticed that this was great opportunity to get rid of the belly. Her neighbour was a lone old man living alone. His name was Andrew. He used to work as a car mechanic until he retired because of his physical problem.
"How's the little one doing?" Andrew asked as he was cutting weeds on the garden.
"Oh, this." Pam said surprised and pointed her belly. "I'm just a little overstuffed after a long meeting. Do I look pregnant to you or?"
Andrew lifted his trucker's hat a little bit and eyed her for a while. Pam also looked at herself and noticed that the belly wasn't shrinking or deflating.
"Nope. Can't say that I do notice." Andrew commented as not to offend Pam.
"I mean. I'm not pregnant anymore." Pam murmur with a teeth clenching smile.
The old man just glanced at Pam without saying a word. He changed subject and asked something but in the moment Pam had a moment of realisation. Maybe the lie sticks with you after you had said it. Meaning that a lie can't be 'un-lied' once it's the truth. She wanted to tell a lie here and there to her neighbour. The mouth watering words that could exit her mouth at any moment could change her forever. Not that one pregnancy could hurt her, but what if she accidentally made a white lie with world altering consiquences...
