"Hm," Bill glanced out the window, Tyler, Rob, Greg and the others were all wolfing down burgers and chips. Bill activated the Chronovac, some many subjects popped. Greg, Jeff, and his wife were already subjects. There was room for up to five subjects without purchasing an expansion board for the Chronovac. Tyler had used his tablet on Jeff, so he was quickly isolated from the guests and selected as Subject 4.
Suddenly, quiet, Tyler excused himself to use the bathroom. Instead he stood like an automaton in Bill's presence. Bill questioned him about Greg's Jeep. It turned out he and Rob instigated the night's raid. So Rob would be subjects five. He programmed Tyler to have no interest in upgrading Jeff without Greg's explicit consent, and that he would never tamper with the computer again. Bill didn't ask I'd Tyler had downloaded Jeff's memories. Only if he knew about Jeff. At that point, Tyler only knew that Jeff was Greg's big brother. He had no idea the Jeep was Jeff. So Bill sent him back to the party oblivious to his visit with Bill.
A few minutes later, he made Rob feel guilty about fixing up Greg's Jeep without explicit consent. He left Rob and Tyler apologizing to Greg about messing with his car, while a confused Greg told them it was okay.
After some offroading everybody went home, and Bill set to work restoring Jeff's memories and programming.
That night at home Tyler activated his tablet, and ran this weird Jeff program that he'd downloaded. He thought it might be malware earlier, but it looked more like an AI.
Jeff woke up. He wasn't a Jeep, he wasn't human. He was trapped in Tyler's tablet.
"Hey, what did you do to me? Where's Greg? Where's my body?"
"So you are an AI, and not malware," Tyler remarked.
"I'm not am artificial intelligence, I'm a person!" Jeff told Tyler the whole story, and begged him to put him back in his body. He explained about the Chronovac program, and how it could change realities.
Jeff pleaded with him to put him back in his body, but Tyler said he would never tamper with Greg's vehicle again. He did have another idea.
Tyler went out to his garage, and got into his car. He had the old computer boards from Greg's car, and some extra memory boards. He added them all to his car, and then uploaded the Chronovac and Jeff's files into his car. Then he got out, and activated the Chronovac. Jeff was disoriented. He was in a different vehicle, and it was changing into a human body.
Tyler watched as his car seemed to melt away into a naked man. It was amazing. He could not wait to show Greg.
