A lot of the traditions of Christmas actually originated from various pagan midwinter celebrations, many of which were added to ease the "transition" from paganism to Christianity. This often generated a lot of dispute and debate on which traditions were truly original, and which ones were added on later. What was probably not debated was that the winter solstice was the coldest and shortest day of the year. Fortunately, there were plenty of things to do to keep the cold at bay, indoors or outdoors, especially in Animalia.

Animalia had already "reignited" the Great Snow War, so there were plenty of people who were waging "snow warfare" in various ways. Of course, this was more inspired by WWI and wasn't judged for accuracy.

What was probably the "hottest" party in Lyre/Animalia was no doubt the Meat Market's Christmas Party, though there were plenty who were joking that all those who were attending were getting coal for Christmas. Of course, this seemed to apply to all the new bimbos, and not just Stacey, Lacey, Trixie, Dixie, and Vixi. While Miss Fabina still didn't like them, she did admit now that these new bimbos allowed some of the older employees some free time to pursue their other goals.

Another part of Christmas was spending time with one's family, whether or not they got along with them. Sometimes, though, this led to even more surprises than initially thought. Probably the biggest was when Lena's parents came in to celebrate Christmas with her, or so they said. The biggest surprise came when they met both Lena's new boyfriend Jeff, as well as Jeff's father, King Andrew I. While spending time with them did help them accept Lena being in a pride with Jeff, there was no doubt that they still disapproved of it, though not in public.

Of course, there were those who didn't want to go to a Christmas party at the Meat Market for various reasons. Fortunately, there were two other parties, one at Fennec Hall for the more upper-class members, and one at Animalia's Great Hall for the more middle-class members.

Of course, while the solstice was celebrated in various ways, it wasn't Christmas quite yet, and some people, especially young people, were getting impatient with waiting.
