Neither of the three brothers said anything, but Luke and the others would not budge. They wanted to know how Evan had fused with them, and they wanted to know at that particular moment. After a few uncomfortable moments, Zack could bear it no longer.
"It was me," Zack admitted. "I wanted to try this with Evan, and I guess I couldn't wait, I really wanted him to be part of this."
Luke, Ethan, and Scott understood why Zack acted on an impulse—but Evan still wanted to know how this had happened. So the group spent the afternoon recounting all that had happened over the last few days: the suit from Santa, the various levels and incidents of merging, and the resulting "bonds" that had begun to affect them all since then. Evan was noticeably confused upon hearing certain points, and slightly uncomfortable with others, but surprisingly intrigued with much of the story. Perhaps it was the time he had now spent in this form, or perhaps it was the times he had spent pretending to be one person with Zack, or maybe the unusual and unexpected feeling that Evan tried to suppress whenever the two were in such close proximity to one another. Whatever the case, he was now enjoying this sensation. And when he asked if he would like to separate from Zack and his brothers, he declined.
The group spent the rest of the day hanging out and doing all sorts of things together. Using their fusion powers, they were able to enjoy some of their everyday activities even more. They played video games, did some wrestling, and a few others things as well. They ate together, brushed their teeth together, and even relieved themselves together—the latter feeling more natural and less awkward than it would have been under different circumstances.
With only a few days before Christmas Eve, the group decided to spend the holiday together—literally and figuratively—and by whatever means necessary. That night, Ethan and Scott stayed at Ethan's house, as did Luke, Kevin, Allan, and Dean. Mark, Max, Evan, and Zack spent the night at Scott's house. Each group went to bed in their sweaters, even though they did not exactly need them to stay together at this point. Each group had at least one member who wanted to have a little "fun" with their partner or partners, and felt sure that they would not mind. If there was a person who enjoyed watching such things as though they were an epic poem or a soap opera, or even a film packed with drama and passion, then such a person would likely wonder which of these groups would act upon such feelings, and from which person they would originate, as well as which group would experience such a sequence of events first.
