Perhaps it might be nice to just take a break. The brisk lake air is fresh and clean, and the atmosphere is wonderful. You pick a bench and stake a claim on a seat that lets you see the lights on the ferris wheel reflect off the lake at a perfectly wonderful angle.
As you take a breath and relax, it's easy to put your adult worries away and settle into a relaxed mood, watching people pass. At first, you only see about one or two people jogging by, but then a couple passes you, then a group of friends. Huh. Guess this secret spot isn't so secluded after all.
There's something nice and calming about people-watching. After all, when you have no obligations, it can be fun to try and guess what others are up to. That couple walking down the walk, for instance, probably is interested in getting in line for the ferris wheel. And maybe the group of teens snickering behind you just got away with pulling a prank on one of their peers or something. There's an attractive girl looking wistfully off towards the lake holding a rose, which you can only presume is someone looking for their date. Dozens more people in similar situations pass by... A group jogging by, a woman walking several dogs. Two girls gossiping loudly while staring at their phones. Someone carrying a picnicking basket filled to the brim with food and other outing supplies.
Eventually something causes you to stir from your seat.
