She comes back as he’s running in the wheel. She clapped her hand over her mouth. “Hammy, you’re too cute!”
She had to think what to do. After taking a snack from the fridge with no one shouting at her, and walking in the garden, she still felt barely adjusted to this human body.
And what about Jeff? She had wanted to know him while they were both human. But did that risk him making her a dog again? Besides, he “was” sexy. Past tense. Since he had elected to be a hamster it was harder and harder to recall his facial features and his bare chest. Let alone his manhood. And he had wanted these new roles, he had chosen to be a hamster!
There were other men too. Thinking back to her walks in the park, before her interest had been on the other dogs, but what about their owners? There must be other men older than Jeff who knew how to care for a dog and a woman. Her perfect match.
It was settled. She had other people to meet. And there was also this adorable creature that needed her care. It was logical!
She walked over to the computer. “Oh Hammy, we’re going to keep having fun together. I will go looking for some extra toys for you, maybe even a friend. Would you like that my little guy? Maybe we can both find someone new.” Reviewing the settings, they were as she’d left them. They presented Sally in the house of her parents, and the pet Hammy. She just made one change, so he’d behave a bit more naturally, she moved his hamster mind up to 80%. And with barely another thought clicked save and quit.
She felt a jolt, as the human thoughts settled a bit better into her head.
Jeff felt a jolt too. What had Sally done? There was then a rush of instinct, clouding his thoughts. And noise as the cage vibrated and opened above him.
She took him in her hands, stroking his furry little body as she explained: “I’ve decided to keep our places like this. But don’t worry Hammy, I’m going to be the best possible owner for you. You gave me great training and I’m looking forward to repaying the treatment” Part of his mind was freaking out that his temporary whim could possibly have become permanent. But there was now a part of his mind that he couldn’t control driving his body. This one was enjoying the warmth of her hands and her touch. Despite his human fears, Sally only heard squeaks of contentment.
