"Well, what did your Abuela give you this year Miles?" Miguel asked his son as Miles looked at the open box with dissatisfaction. Miles held it up and it was a shirt of a children's show he had been invested in when he was back in early middle school. His grandmother, had apparently not gotten the message that he had not only grown out of the show but that the shirt was a few sizes too small for him.
"Oh, I probably should have talked to your Abuela first before she got your gift." Gabrielle said chuckling as Miranda cupped her mouth holding back a big laugh that she knew her brother wouldn't like. Amara sat next to her with a gift of her own. She had been invited personally over to the Desoto's for Christmas by Miranda and Miguel and Gabrielle were happy to support their daughter and her girlfriend.
Miranda opened her own gift and it was a shirt that read 'Pansexually Proud'.
"I..I hope you like it Mija, I ordered it for you. I thought you might like something that you know...was...LGBTQIA+." Gabrielle said a little worried that she might have made a mistake with her gift.
"No mamá, I love it, I'm still a little unsure about wearing it in public. I don't want people staring at me all the time." Miranda said while blushing a little. Amara gently took Miranda's hand to hers.
"So long as I'm in public with you, I won't anyone else tell you differently. My girlfriend is pansexually proud and I love you for that." Amara said as Miranda gave Amara a loving kiss on the cheek.
Amara opened her own gift and was surprised to see a heart shaped choker necklace and looked to her and winked.
"I love it, it makes me think...how far I've come being with you." Amara said.
"Okay, mamá, open your gift from papá now." Miles said.
Gabrielle smiled seeing her children had more or less liked each of their gifts and wondered what Miguel had gotten her. Gabrielle slowly opened the box she had been holding onto and peeked inside then blushed bright red.
"Miguel?! The...children are present." Gabrielle said motioning her head towards them.
"What did he get you mamá?" Miranda asked.
"What is it? Oh, nothing special just something he and I can...use together. Wow, would you look at the time. You two should really go see if your friends have gifts to give you." Gabrielle said as she huddled the three of them to the door.
"But we don't have to meet them for another half hour." Miles said.
"Then make it a surprise for them. It is Christmas mijo. Have fun, goodbye, don't come back for another few hours. Your father and I are going to be...very busy." Gabrielle said as she shut the front door on the three of them.
"What was all that about?" Amara asked.
Miles and Miranda listened closely to the closed door to hear what was going on and heard their mother giggling while their father made compliments to their mother that made her swoon.
"Papá got mamá a 'special' gift." Miles came to the conclusion as they walked away from the house.
"Oh, your parents must really love each other a lot." Amara commented.
"We know." Miles and Miranda both said as they rolled their eyes.
