With 2023 just starting, there was a lot of events to look forward to, though some were greeted with more enthusiasm than others.

What everyone was focusing on, at least in Lyre/Animalia, was the upcoming Winter Ball. Because of the pandemic of the last two years, a good number of WSA students/graduates had to miss prom. Because of this, a "Winter Ball" was promised to those students when the pandemic was over. While it had taken a while for the pandemic to get under control, this promise was not forgotten, and everyone at WSA was looking forward to the event.

However, another event that was a little less... predictable (in terms of having a fixed date) that was also coming up was the 2023 Mister and Miss Zodiac competition. In this case, it was the Year of the Rabbit, so a good number of Rabbit Animalians were doubling down on their physical training. While the competition hadn't started yet, there was already two polls on the Animalia Website on who people thought would be crowned the winner, with the Miss Zodiac being the most popular of the two, for obvious reasons.
There were a few things that were considered disappointing or "unfair", and one of those was that brand new Animalians weren't really allowed to sign up for the big events, much to Trixie's disappointment. On the other hand, there were some who were taking part for their own reasons. Morgan was the best example for this due, mainly because of how driven she was to prove she wasn't as shallow as the "trolls" on the website called her, but that stain on her reputation was going to take quite a bit longer to "wash out", so to speak.
