Mr. Huff arrives at the high school, which actually is a joint school of a junior high school and a high school, so the students are between 11 and 18 years of age. It is a warm Friday morning, Mr. Huff hates Fridays, because the first two periods he is stuck in class with annoying 11 and 14 year olds. Ryan Huff loathes kids, the reason being that he did not have a great childhood, so seeing kids being happy he becomes angry, because he never has been happy when he was a child.
As Mr. Huff is sitting at his desk, getting stuff ready for the lesson, which is History, the door opens and the first kids walk in.
“So, Rob,” he hears a voice say, “what have you got planned for your party tomorrow?”
Mr. Huff looks up, he sees a group of four kids, Rob who is 11, Darren who is 12, Eric who is the same age as Darren and Marc who is 13, walk in. Normally, Mr. Huff would not pay attention to the conversation, but now that he has the App on his phone, a kid's birthday party would be a great place to try some things out, so he listens closely.
“Oh, I have a few things planned,” Rob says, excitement in his voice.
“Please tell,” Marc responds.
“Well,” Rob says, “I thought about doing a treasure hunt, after that we'd have something to eat, and after THAT we'll play Cowboys and Indians, and after THAT, have some fun in the pool... aaaand finally I thought we could do a sleep over, and have some late night snacks while watching a movie like “The Lion King”, and maybe play “truth or dare”.”
Rob's friends look at each other, “sounds like fun,” they say, “so, how many will come to your birthday,” Darren asks.
“Besides you four,” Rob asks, the others nod, “Zack and Ben said they'd come,” he says.
“Ben? Isn't that the little brother of that Greg and Jeff guys,” Eric asks.
“Yeah,” Rob says, “so?”
Eric holds up his hands, “oh, nothing,” he says, “I am just surprised, because you don't really do much with him, and Zack is... well kinda weird.”
Darren nods, “yeah, Zack is really weird,” he says, “always talking about silly things like Aliens, Werewolves, Unicorns, Pixies,... just... weird stuff.”
Rob shrugs, “maybe,” he says, “but I think he is still okay, and Ben is okay himself, he is kinda the quiet guy.”
The others look at each other, “I hope the party will be still fun,” Eric says.
“It will be,” Rob says, “come on, give those two a chance, okay?”
The others sigh, “okay, fine,” they say, Rob smiles.
Mr. Huff has heard enough, ideas are already forming in his head, 'I might pay them a visit tomorrow,' he thinks to himself, grinning, 'I think it could get interesting and fun.' The man returns to what he was doing, and a few minutes later the class is in session.
After the class, Mr. Huff leans back in his chair, deep in thought, 'there are two options for me to get close to that party,' he thinks to himself, 'one is to stay nearby as an adult, and the next, and much more effective option would be to regress myself into a 11 or 12 year old and ask to join the party. I even have a little story already in my head, to not raise suspicion, and I it would be nice to be a kid again for a day.'
