Jeff panicked. She wasn't sure what choice meant what at this point. She had a feeling one meant being a human, one meant being a doe and random could mean anything! Did it mean it would choose one of the options? Or something else completely? And for how long?
She started hitting buttons to try and delay the countdown, or at least get a help box to explain the error better, but nothing happened. She tried reseting the machine, but suddenly heard a whirring sound that caused her to look back at the screen.
"Warning: Reset during failure mode initiated. In order to preserve time/space continuity, subject will reset in current default mode. Please contact customer support when possible."
Jeff had a feeling like she should run, but was stopped in her tracks and the world went dark.

Jeff wasn't sure what was happening at first. She had the sensation of being balled up, unable to move much. She wasn't breathing but she wasn't dead.
She wasn't born.
The realization slowly came on, probebly over a few days. It was a state much like being asleep. She couldn't run with a train of thought for a long time before it seemed interuppted.
It took a long time to realize what must have happened. She'd gotten pregnant, and somehow that had caused the chronovac to malfuntion. It couldn't be something the designers didn't anticipate, but the deer functions were labeled as new, so it must have been a bug.
Her attempt to reset had blown it all apart. So it had reset her as an embryo, strangly with her memory intact.
But an embryo of what?
