Dave and John drove down the uneven dirt road leading up to the pet shop from one of the freeways off-shoots. Dave takes the wheel, letting his blond hair flow in the wind while John is playing navigator stroking his mountain man beard. Dave and John met in college, and shortly after becoming a couple when they find that they have very similar interests and backgrounds when it comes to animals. Their folks and extended families worked with animals, from simple farmers to nature conservationists. Both of their parents were veterinarians, and both of them owned several pets over their childhoods. Dave and Johns shared stories; with each other about their favorite pets; they played with them, cared for them, and heck, even wanted to be one. Now that they were both done with School and got Jobs and a suitable living space for any Pet they would adopt, they thought that now was a good time to adopt an animal to take care of together.
The two-man got out of the car, Dave feeling chilly as the wind picked up, only really coming in shorts, a plain T-shirt, and sandals with white socks. Dave was dressed more for the beach compared to John who was dressed for a good long hike, a sweater vest, long Jeans, and boots.
"Let's get inside before it gets colder," Dave said rushing to the door.
"Well, I told you to bring a Jacket with you, Dave." John replied taking his sweet time walking behind Dave as he held the door open for his partner.
"Just get inside before a lose a finger or something." Dave playfully wined at John as they entered the fabled Pet shop, bells going off as the door closed on its own.
as they enter the shop, something felt off about the place, like a strange energy hanging in the air. It looked like a normal pet shop, the ad poster hanging from the ceiling, aisles stocked with all kinds of pet items, and the place smells like animals are living or at least been here. it also seems to have free sample bowls for pet food, and free to-try animal toys around the place. and the "public restroom" and "public watering hole" seem to be newspaper laid down and water bowls around the shop.
"Well the reviews said the owner was a bit... eccentric, at least would if I can get any Data out here." Dave said trying to pull the reviews off of his phone but could not get a signal out here. the owner at least seemed to have wi-fi but only for "paying customers" figures.
"We should find the Owner, we did set up a meeting to talk about adoption and getting everything needed to adopt?" Johns add taking note of the smell coming from the newspapers piled up.
"or we can check out the place, we did spend the last hour or so in the car, at the very least, I want to stretch my legs."
