It had gotten very late into the night now and nearly everyone was still wide awake waiting for both Caleb and Connor to come back safely. Spark especially paced back and forth in the living room floor and continually stared at the clock.
"He'll be fine Spark. I sent Caleb with him for a reason. They're both going to come back fine." Jacob said comforting Spark placing his remaining hand on her shoulder as she wrapped herself around Jacob's waist. Spark had over the years come to see Jacob as a partner, but now that she was dating Connor, she had begun to see Jacob as a second father.
"Wait, I see them now. They're both coming back." Miles said as he looked out the window at a glance. Everyone went to the front door to greet them. As soon as the door opened, Spark jumped into Connor's arms as he hugged her back.
"I'm okay Spark, I'm okay." Connor reassured his girlfriend as she held back tears of joy at his safe return.
"Yeah, we're okay. Though now Kane definitely knows about almost all of you." Caleb said as he closed the door behind him.
"Wait, when you say 'all of you' do you mean...." Tanya insinuated before Caleb nodded.
"He knows that you two are ghosts. He carries runes with him, it's like one of the top 10 things a hunter carries with him, didn't you guys know about that?" Caleb asked.
"Fuck, I can't believe I forgot about that. Damn hunter." Sylvia grumbled to herself.
"What did he say?" Akira asked.
"Well besides insulting Spark and calling Miles 'pancho villa'..." Caleb recounted.
"Bastardo." Miles and Miranda both commented.
"I would have loved to have seen you clock him." Spark also commented.
"I wanted to, but Caleb held me back." Connor mentioned. Before Spark could comment, Caleb continued.
"He knows about you all and where you all live. Every wizard, demon, damphir, and human, I'm sure he also knows where it is you two go home to." Caleb said pointing to Sylvia and Tanya. Everyone else felt a bit of despair now, before they thought they might have an advantage, but it seemed Ezekiel Kane was a few steps ahead of them.
"The only person he didn't know or at least no first hand knowledge of was you, Akira. So we have a slim advantage. His message simply put was to stay out of his way." Caleb finished.
Akira placed his palm over his face shaking his head in shame. He was glad none of them would confront Kane, but now he knew for sure they weren't ready to face him.
"Wait, but what about the spell to track Kane? Did it work?" Connor asked.
"Oh, it worked alright, we can track Kane now. But what can we really do? It's like following that, uh....Instant Grammer on your phones." Tanya said.
"Instagram, god, I can't believe I figured that out first before you." Syliva said making Tanya feel like a real out of touch mother.
"Wait! Kane has been around for years, right?" Rei asked as an idea suddenly popped into her head.
"Yes, why?" Jacob asked.
"Well, maybe we can actually get some help from someone who fought Kane before in the past and actually won against him? Or at least made him go into hiding. Is there anyone still living like that?" Rei asked as Jacob shook his head.
"Unfortunately no. Most of the other living hunters are either long into retirement, or dead. Don't worry, most of them were natural causes. But I have heard of two who actually fought against Kane and managed to put him into hiding." Jacob explained.
"Well, great, who are they? Maybe they can help." Amara said perking up.
"Unfortunately, I don't think they will. One of them was Miro Tepes and I greatly doubt he'd want to help us." Jacob further explained as Nat held her head low hearing that.
"So....who was the other one?" Rei asked.
"Mind you, this had been just a rumor. But apparently the other was once a famous knight: Lancelot of Camelot." Jacob said.
"WHAT?!" Everyone in the room exclaimed as crying was suddenly heard.
"Voices down please. I've got sleeping babies back here." Nina asked as she quieted baby Chase and Charlotte.
"There are always rumors in the supernatural world. One has been that the knight Lancelot felt disgrace for what he had done to King Arthur's court and didn't die as it's said, but instead walked the Earth until he came upon the vampire, Vlad Tepes, Dracula and became a vampire himelf. After that, Lancelot devoted his life to the Tepes line however he could. But some decades back, when I was just a kid, my old man heard a rumor that Ezekiel Kane went to find and kill Miro Tepes's wife and child. Part of the rumor was that he infiltrated Miro's group by way of Lancelot. The woman and child were killed, but Miro and Lancelot held off Kane and he fled." Jacob explained in great detail to them all.
"What a story. No way a guy like Lancelot would do that, would he?" Nat asked no one in particular.
"Actually....it's true." Sylvia replied as everyone in the room looked shocked.
"Well you guys know about Merlin, right? So shouldn't King Arthur and the rest of them have existed? Course no one gets their tale right almost any of the time. But yeah, Lancelot was and possibly is a real guy." Tanya answered.
"Possibly?" Akira asked.
"Well, I imagine Miro Tepes was very upset about his wife and child killed by Kane. Word was he locked up Lancelot somewhere away as punishment for allowing Kane to slip into Tepes's home. But where he's locked up almost no one knows." Syliva explained.
"No, someone has to know. We could ask Merlin if he knows or we could ask Duke. He might know something. If this guy has dealt with Kane then he may be our best hope at stopping Kane once and for all. We've just got to decide how we'll go about this." Connor said sounding like a leader to his friends.
