Dean is about to reply, when the door to Jeff's room opens and Jeff's mom enters, “hey Dean,” she says.
“He-hello miss Davis,” Dean replies, “what's up?”
“Have you seen Jeff,” the woman asks, not yet noticing the little German Shepherd puppy, “I need his help.”
Dean is blocking Jeff's mother's line of sight, so she is unable to notice the little “puppy”, the boy shakes his head, “sorry, miss Davis. I don't know where Jeff is.”
“Funny,” the woman says, “I thought you two were together.”
“Yeah,” Dean says, “that was the plan, but when I got up here he was not here.”
“That was like an hour ago,” Jeff's mom says.
“I just figured to wait for him to return,” Dean says, “but... I think I should leave. I'll come around a other day.”
“Okay, Dean,” Jeff's mother says, “if Jeff calls you, please tell him to call me.”
Dean nods, “will do,” he says.
Jeff's mom leaves the room, Dean lets out a sigh of relief, “that was close,” he says, “now Rex, let's get you out of here,” before Jeff can react, Dean has already bent down and scooped the little “pup” up, holding him tight. “Don't make a sound, Rex,” Dean whispers, he heads down the stairs and out the front door, he then walks down the street at a fast pace.
Jeff struggles, he knows where Dean will be taking him, he doesn't want to go to the vets, the little puppy starts to yowl, “Rex, quiet,” Dean says, tightening his grip, “I know you don't want to see the vets, but it's good for you. Besides, you need your vaccinations and general check up, plus I need to get you registered and chipped.”
“This was not part of the deal, Dean,” Jeff says, but it comes out as a bark.
Somehow Dean seems to understand what Jeff means, the teen rolls his eyes, “dude, if you want to be a dog for a month, then I need to do everything a dog owner has to do. Or do you want me to get into trouble? The authorities, if they find out I own an unregistered dog, will be legally able to take you away, I don't think you want to end up in a pound now, would you?” Jeff lets out a whimper and hangs his head, “thought so,” Dean says, “now, stop whining and just bare with it. You are a dog now, and will be for a while, I am only doing what I HAVE to do according to law!”
Jeff stops squirming and looks up at Dean, of course he doesn't want to get Dean in trouble, and he most certainly doesn't want to end up in a dog pound. The little “puppy” lets out a huff, he should have thought about this sooner, he would have never agreed or suggest to being a dog for a month.
Dean smiles when Jeff finally stops making a scene, “that's better,” he says, scratching the “pup” behind the ears, “I promise you, Re... I mean... Jeff, I'll do nothing that you don't want and you promise me to be a good boy and obey me for the time you are my dog, deal?”
Jeff/Rex tilts his head, he then barks and licks Dean's nose, this causes Dean to chuckle.
As they continue on to the vets, Jeff does not notice Dean pulling out his phone, the teen opens the App-store and soon finds what he is looking for: the App version of the Chronivac! Dean downloads the App and installs it, 'now, all I need is to get to Jeff's laptop and copy his file into the app,' he thinks to himself, he grins inwardly, 'sorry Jeff, but you'll be my dog for much longer than just a month!'
