The thought of been paid $10000 dollars won out. John just couldn't stay locked in the room and let the Doctor lose her job. Besides something was very wrong with his own body. It was still apparently sleeping and no amount of shaking could wake it. Had the doctor overdosed herself? His body needed medical attention.
Full of trepidation John straightened the skirt he/she was wearing and went across and unlocked the door then peered into the corridor.
He was confronted by two burly guards carrying of all things a sledge hammer. One of the men said to John 'You were in there Doc. The boss told us to break in and retrieve your creature. He was worried something had happened to you. Evidently we have to take the creature down to the meeting room pronto - whether you were co-operating or not'
The other man must have noticed John looking pale. John did feel very feint. 'Are you all right Doc? Is something wrong?'
John wasn't going to admit that the Doc had swapped their bodies. He could never live that down if it became public knowledge. For the moment he had to pretend to be the very female doctor. Besides he was under the impression that the body swap was a secret and his $10000 dollars required that it stay a secret, not that John understood why the doctor had swapped their bodies. 'There's a man on the floor, he's asleep and I can't wake him. He needs medical attention' John was relieved that his voice currently sounded very feminine.
Everything was then a great rush, John was taken by a woman to a lounge where she was given a glass of water. Someone was calling for an ambulance. John heard someone say 'It's that janitor, It looks like he's injected himself with some of the doc's medications' Someone else was saying 'Take that creature down to the meeting room. We don't want it to be seen by the paramedics' John saw the two guards carrying the creatures cage to the elevator.
John recognised that the woman trying to comfort him was the administration assistant for this level. She was the woman who had earlier knocked on the door. John couldn't remember her name.
Sarah recognised that Doctor Peggy wasn't well either. She was confused. She didn't seem to know what the janitor had done to himself. No doubt Doctor Peggy had been trying to revive the man when she had been knocking on the door. Had Peggy somehow exposed herself to whatever the janitor had poisoned himself with? That could explain the doctors confusion. 'Are you feeling alright? You have your big presentation. Are you going to able to do it?'
That reminded John of the $10000 dollars. 'Yes... Yes... The presentation..... Where?.... When?.... I have to do it'
'Perhaps I can take you there and explain about the accident in your lab' Sarah suggested. 'Let me fix your hair first. I love your suit. You look very elegant'
John sat there as the woman brushed his hair. He then let himself be led to the elevator. He was grateful that the woman steadied him. He found it almost impossible to walk in the high heels the Doctor's body was wearing.
The elevator stopped on a different floor. John was led to another room. A large room. There were other people there. All looked wealthy. Men in expensive suits and women dripping in diamonds. John felt overwhelmed. These must be the doctor's investors.
