Jenna turned awareness off quickly. She didn’t want Will to be aware. Then, she generated a new sentence.
Jenna’s parents were always getting on her case, trying to make her marry and have children as young as possible. She didn’t want kids yet, in part because she didn’t want to experience childbirth and pregnancy, and in part because she didn’t want to be stuck raising them. But she had the power in her hands to deal with both those problems.
She generated a new sentence.
“Will wants children.” Perfect. She changed “wants” to “has”. Their surroundings changed. A baby monitor rested on Jenna’s bedside table, and a crib was set by her side of the bed. After generating a few new sentences, Jenna discovered that the children she had with Will (who was now her husband) were a two-year-old son named Gerardo and a six-month-old daughter named Camilla.
She and Will were both twenty-one, which meant that she had gotten pregnant with Gerardo when she was eighteen, and gave birth to him at nineteen. Her parents and Will’s parents had insisted on a shotgun wedding when the pregnancy was revealed. With a few quick changes, Jenna made their marriage very happy and full of love. She also got rid of any side effects from her two pregnancies. Her body was like she had never given birth at all.
Jenna generated another sentence.
“Will is a devoted father.” Aw, that was sweet. But it wasn’t quite what Jenna wanted. She changed “devoted” to “stay-at-home”. The baby monitor and crib were transported to Will’s side of the bed.
There. That was what she wanted.
Finally satisfied, Jenna went back to bed and fell asleep. She was woken up later by…
