Leah walked into the school Tina was putting her in until she gave up on diapers. It wasn’t daycare and it wasn’t high school. It was an elementary school, and Leah was enrolled in kindergarten. Leah’s diaper crinkled under her as she walked through the halls. The school was one where Tina knew the kindergarten teacher, but as a Catholic school, all students were required to wear a uniform. Since the uniform for girls included a skirt, Leah didn’t have a noticeable diaper bulge. But since tights weren’t part of the uniform, every now and then her thick padding peeked out.
The school secretary, who had been leading Leah through the school, came to a stop outside a door covered in cartoony cutesy stickers. She opened the door.
“Miss Clark, your new student is here,” the secretary said. Leah walked into the classroom and smiled at her teacher.
“Hi, Miss Clark!” she chirped. Miss Clark beamed at her.
“Leah, I’m so happy to have you here. Thank you for dropping her off, Betsy. I’ll take it from here.” The secretary left. “Come to the front of the classroom.” Leah walked to the front of the classroom and stood by Miss Clark. Her new classmates stared at her. “Kids, this is your new classmate, Leah. You might notice she looks a bit different from you.”
What?
“That’s because she’s much older than you are,” Miss Clark said. Leah stared at her in horror. “She’s fifteen!” A little boy raised a hand. “Yes, Bobby?”
“Why is she here?” he asked.
“Because Leah has been having some accidents lately,” Miss Clark informed him. She lifted Leah’s skirt to reveal Leah’s diaper. Leah turned beet red. “She needs diapers. And a girl in diapers doesn’t belong in high school.” Miss Clark lowered Leah’s skirt. “Until she stops having accidents, Leah will be in class with us. Isn’t that fun?”
Leah’s new classmates cheered. They seemed thoroughly amused by the concept of a big girl in diapers in their class. Miss Clark lowered her head next to Leah’s.
“Didn’t Tina tell you? Everyone at this school knows you’re fifteen, and everyone knows you’re in kindergarten because you need diapers.” Leah swallowed nervously. “Go take a seat, sweetie.”
Leah joined her new classmates on the colorful rug, her mind racing. She wanted to be in diapers, but it was starting to feel like this wasn’t worth it. Should she tough it out as a diapered teen in kindergarten or give up on the diapers and return to high school?
