The rest of the session went off without a hitch. Despite the initial awkwardness, Rachel found herself easily getting back into the swing of the session. She had more fun than she had in a long time, and it was nice to actually have a chance to sit down and play. She smiled at Cynthia and Ronald, having finally learned his name as she rolled the d20 for one of her spells.
"That's a 24 on Fire Bolt."
"That's a hit, how do you want to do this?" Cynthia said with a grin.
Rachel described as the firebolt caught the enemy mercenary captain in the chest. As he was set on fire he burned screaming before falling to the ground in ashes. The group cheered as Ronald reached over to pat Rachel on the back but stopped, looking apologetically at her.
"Sorry..." He said, remembering what she had told them.
Rachel nodded a bit as she started to gather up her stuff again. She smiled as the group said their goodbyes and started to head out to her car. She needed to get back home as soon as possible so her mom didn't worry about her. She was about to head for the door when Cynthia called over to her.
"Hey Rachel, can you stay a bit longer?" Cynthia asked.
"Uh, sure," Rachel said as she walked over to the redheaded girl. "What's up?"
"Look, I know your first experience with Werecats was bad," Cynthia said with a bit of a sigh. "But you're going to need more help than just speaking with people if you want to get used to it. There are a few Werecat prides around town who would love to welcome a newcomer and help you get used to your Werecat side."
"I don't know," Rachel admitted as she looked a bit nervous. "I mean, I've met some nice Werecats, but I don't know if I'm ready to get fully into Werecat society. And do you really think that they'd be willing to just accept me after what happened?"
"You'd be surprised," Cynthia said with a gentle smile. "I think they would be happy to have you. Can you at least consider coming to meet them?"
